I just bought the AmigaOS4 version via the RGCD web site.
If a CD version comes out, I will most likely get that as well. It will look good on my book shelf next to the copy of BOH I ordered a few years back ;)
Just a minor bug fix. Despite all the testing, while backporting some code to BOH, I discovered 2 very silly bugs. You'll receive an email soon (strange, you should have received it already).
I have one question about the video rate : the program is telling me I am having a video rate of 25 % (with dots x5) but I dont see any slowdown so is this critical ? the problem is that if I reduce the dots, the gameplay area gets smaller too so it becomes difficult to distinguish the various bricks.
The program doesn't slow down, but skips frames (1 every 4, in your case), so graphics are not as smooth as they should be. Apart from personal sensitivity (I notice immediately, and I hate non-smooth refresh rates), given how frantic the game is, such low refresh rate will affect playability from a human POV (you get less information, at large intervals). The solution is choosing a smaller screen: that will allow you to choose a smaller dots mode, while still covering (most of) the physical screen area. Howto (stricty in this order): 1. select the 1x solid dots mode, so that you have the widest choice of video modes; 2. select a video mode small enough that looks good on your monitor (those marked with 2 stars are most likely the best); 3. select one of the biggest dots modes available.
Unfortunately not and, to be honest, it's not even 100% sure. I can tell you that both the publisher and I are seriously considering it and that I alredy have the inlay and the serigraphy ready - and, of course, the manual is ready as well (it's included in the game and in the demo as a PDF file). We still have to search for the company that will produce the copies and do the required maths
Although concisely, the manual does talk about this.
In the TROUBLESHOOTING section: Quote:
* If the graphical refresh is not smooth, close any other running application and/or select a lighter dots mode.
In the OPTIONS PAGE section: Quote:
VIDEO - opens the screen/window mode selection page (the aspect ratios of modes are rated with stars; the chosen mode might limit the available dots modes). DOTS - opens the dots mode selection page (modes combine zoom factors from 1x to 5x and many pixel shaders that define the graphical aspect; big/complex modes might affect the smoothness of video refresh; the chosen mode might limit the available video modes).
I didn't have any room left for more detailed explanations and experience taught me that it's wasted space and effort: the BOH manual dedicates the whole page 9 to the subject (because, in that game, due to the full screen rotation, the aspect ratio is very important), but I've noticed that lots of people made nothing of it... Actually, the majority don't even bother looking at the manual. In fact, the idea of slapping the instructions directly in the menu was to scream loud and clear: look, you really need to read the instructions!
quite simply, I'd like to humbly ask you: could you consider voting for Huenison at the 2013 Indie of the Year Awards? The nominations phase has begun just today. If you think Huenison deserves it, it's sufficient to: 1. go to http://www.indiedb.com/games/huenison; 2. click the "VOTE" button. Quick, anonymous and free (and non-binding: you can vote as many games as you want)! And if you really like Huenison, you could also spread the word
