One more question, if i may?
(Don't want to keep Max off from his work)

Did you get your module back with the sink/fan installed?
I mean, it was tested throughoutly, wasn't it?
So a sink/fan had to be installed.

Did Max send one package or were they seperated for transport?

Thanks for your time and sharing the info

I sent my module to Max without sink/fan. Since the module was Kaput there seemed no sense in adding to the postage.
He tested the reworked module on his computer I believe so he would have used his own sink/fan.
I am happy to answer any questions you have, I would just like to add that the module came back to me in pristine condition, I would never have known it had been reworked. The job Max has done is fantastic and has brought my A1 back to life when I was beginning to think it would never run again.

Ordered the sink+fan from Max and now waiting eagerly to join the club, armed with Arctic Silver 5 (courtesy of Raziel)

It's Max Tretene (m3x, iirc)

ACube support should be fine.
Personal mail could be faster, see PM

well since the module is bolted to the motherboard it means the computer has to be stripped, I would also advise care when undoing the bolts in case the tool you use to slacken the nuts dislodges the capacitors either side of the bolt holes. That happened to me and I did not realise the solder had cracked until one of the capacitors lifted up on its end. If you are not certain you can tackle the job it is probably best you get an expert to do it for you, but the job itself is not technically difficult.

I'll be sure to do so. I haven't been able to use OS4 since November so I'll have a lot of new software to play with.

Yes it's amazing... I got this PC with 3GB RAM, AMD Athlon 64 at 2.16 GHz, SATA 1 drived, ATI Radeon 1600... everything blow the A1 XE G4 that I got (also, bus-speed is higher) .... but I run Vista on it and it's horrible! There are slowdowns, not many, but enough. It should just be cancelled. Linux is way better and AOS 4... well it just rocks ...

I'm supposed to be going out for beers this afternoon so I might postpone installation of the CPU until tomorrow. At the risk of being like Helgis I'll keep you posted.

Yeah I guess I was one of the first ones. I hope Jack's is on its way too, I've been sans OS4 sine November but Jack has been waiting even longer.

Gotta find some nuts and bolts to secure the module to the board, the plastic ones seem to have got lost somewhere along the line. Good excuse to get something better.

Good luck with your re-installation, don't panic if the cpu doesn't fire up first time, you may need to power down the dip switches first.
