"The AmigaOne onboard VIA soundchip/hardware DOES have the possibility to gather MIDI streams IN, right?"
Man, I have to dig into my memory!! AFAIR, we never got MIDI in to work, only out (AFAIR!).
So there won?t be any chance to eventually drop the sound card in the AOneXE? Ah, too bad (trying to save space and PCI slots and not complicate things here)

"I'm talking about feeding a MIDI file through the onboard gameport to a MIDI hardware (like an MT-32) and back into the VIA's MIC(?) input and play through the VIA's sound output"
Good, you'll need the MIDI OUT for this. You should use the line-in though and use Mixer to monitor the line-in.
Yes, it works here very well, but only if i use the sound card.
Well, i have to live with it

If the MIDI in doesn't work, that's not gonna happen. Anyway, here you are talking about playing virtual soft synths which are only available in HD-rec IIRC.
OK, thanks

If I could, I would have!
But USB MIDI is known to work (ask Lyle).
Understood, thanks for the explanation
...and keep tickling sound out of hardware
