I think, not involved directly on this thread (because just have an old printer) but DOT4 seemed to be the all in one printer/scanner/card reader,... we could found actually on our local supermarket.
I let user with better knowledge than me maybe add more comments for this point.
They aren't just the all-in-ones, my LJ1015 (NB: not the CM1015) is a standard laser printer and it is Dot4. What we need is the name of a current model which is (a) cheap and (b) known to be Dot4.
Maybe the best is to know from RWO what printer he could baught near his location (new or second hand or maybe if someone want to give one for him and paid the postage) and surely the money will be given by some AOS4 user here.
Like that, he could test and make the driver.
See my links about ideas of DOT4 printer.

As a new comer here im not sure how it works with regard to bountys. I will of course make a donation to the fund when we know what we are looking at money wise. Having just ordered a sam, reliable printer support will of course be extreamly useful.
A bounty have been opened to help RWO to found a DOT4 printer (new or second hand) for developping a DOT4 driver for AOS4.
The usefull thing we now need is to have a RWO news about what printer he have choosen (from his supermarket or second hand one) and the cost.
He baught the printer and take the money on the bounty as a refund.
After we all do that for other hardware but of course if someone near his home have a free DOT4 printer, It's even better. Finally all is possible.
The best is to see RWO posting here
honestly, I'm not real involved for this driver myself because printing at job (rarely) but It's a kind of general idea. For example, in case he need some webcams for specific raw/bulk drivers for AOS4, I will be pleased to give some money for supporting webcam transfret protocol.

You might have problems with that, they aren't fully PCL compatible (hence why I bought the slightly-more-expensive 1015, well that and the fact there was absolutely no USB printer support on OS4 at the time)
Nothing really happems to usb.log. Plugged in the LaserJet 2600n and selected the usbprinter.device - no changes to the log. Tried my third printer HP pcs2510 - again, no changes to the log:
