First of all we need to identify a printer that for sure is a DOT4 printer. I have a Brother printer I havn't tested yet - I'll try to test it over the weekend.
PS: i like Canon or HP multifuction printers myself
hope this helps
Edit: I would prefer a NEW printer for the bounty, so new users can buy a new printer, with latest functionalty and other bounties to get printer functions up-to-date.
we woould like to found a soultion to give to rwo a dot4 printer for a driver.
- buy new himself (bounty pay the printer). - second hand himself (bounty pay the printer). - a user send him his printer and take the bounty (postage).
The best is for rwo and use to found a seond hand first, a cheap on on his supermarket and last auser with a real dot4 to send to him his printer.
The first problem is to be sure a printer is a dot4 one.
Hope your netgear link could help and maybe first thing is to found a technical link like this one who printer is well checked about dot4 printer or not.

Today I got hold of a HP LaserJet 1020 and I have high hopes this is a Dot4 printer... the problem I got it from a recycle station where it had been out in the rain.
Looking at the circus when I got home, look it was dry.. but I'm leaving inside for drying for a couple of days.
great news! I have the HP LaserJet 1012 and its DOT4 so I'm pretty sure the 1020 will be too...so how does the bounty work now...do you have to assign yourself to the proposed bounty at amigabounty.net ?
1. I think we let RWO testing if this printer is a DOT4 one.
2. After he could say for the bounty the prize of this recycle station printer (if not too wet) and some beers and time lost.
3. some users will fullfill the bounty.
4. RWO has some betatesters here for the time he has made the driver and would like tests from other printers.
NOTE: I haven't a printer here but I will donate little money for this bounty. I'm more here for created this kind of special bounty.
- Money for a webcam, an usb to ethernet adaptator,...for making AOS4 drivers. Sometime the hardware could be found at supermarket, or from a user or from a recycle station but It's the minimal point to offer an hardware to the developper IMHO.
Maybe the next time that will be a light and common hardware that just a user need to send to RWO by mail.
I just would like to se more often RWO asked for an hardware, for a driver, and if someone could send the hardware to him...
RWO: thanks for having actively rechearched a DOT4 printer for AOS4.X and hope you are happy by the feedback here

Just let him decide what hw he wants to mak drivers for,and we buy it for him. And make that hw you can buy now. Makes it easier for betatesters and to buy it when it is finished..
If your HP MFP printer model works then its got TRUE USB support -- so I would suggest that you keep the SX-2000U2 -- the quality of Silex firmware is excellent. The 'cheaper' HP all use DOT4 to emulate a USB port - that is the reason that those models will not work because the SX-2000U2 expects to see a 'TRUE' USB port and not one that is being emulated
We should in future think about a universal printer server/driver, using PDF.
But just we would like to know informations for finishing the bounty that mean give you some money for the printer and the free time loss for searching after the printer.
After you could work on the DOT4 printer when you want but give to use some appoximate period.
hanks for answering
