GSGui_OS4.lha

I got the file above with an automatic update of my OS4.1FE system

Unarc is not able to open it.
Anybody had more luck?
The file is 173.626 bytes long, but when downloading (to ram as proposed automatically) the file is said to be 173.883 bytes long. Don't know if this give a clue.

I copied the GSGui URL from the AmiUpdate log (au.log) and pasted it into Odyssey. The downloaded file was 173,627 bytes and extracted successfully.

EDIT: GSGui doesn't work with the OS4 native version of Ghostscript so it shouldn't even be on AmiUpdate.

what makes you think that? i just tested it and it works.
and even if it wouldn't work with the os4 gs version - why shouldn't it be on amiupdate?

The USAGE section of the readme says:
* The internal viewers work with whooshs port and are the preferred ones.
They will NOT work when using the OS4 native version of Ghostscript.

When I attempt to display a PDF file, I get this error message:
Internal Display is only possible with Whooshs Ghostscript Port.
You're using a different port currently.

The print device settings don't include my HP-Photosmart printer and I don't own Turboprint. Maybe I'm overlooking something in the print settings.

The USAGE section states that it can be used as a default icon Tooltype which doesn't make sense if the viewer won't work with OS4 Ghostscript.

It's just my personal opinion that a program shouldn't be on AmiUpdate unless it's fully OS4 compatable. If others feel differently, that's fine.

But AmiUpdate only updates software you have installled.

correct.
the *internal* viewer is only part of the whoosh port of ghostscript. the os4 version does not have an internal viewer. you need to use the external viewer here.

this is the list of the currently available devices ghostscript supports:
Available devices:

only some of them are printers. 8 years ago i took the ones i guessed are real printers and offered them as selectable printer drivers. is there one missing? i haven't checked. maybe this can be added with the "additional parameters" field.
