Help wanted X1000 graphics card upgrade (solved)

Trying to upgrade the graphics card on my X1000. I purchased a Radeon card a couple years ago for this, and no longer recall the type (board did not come in the original box). I replaced the original card with the new one, no display on boot, I put the original in with the new and could get the original display, but nothing for the new card in Screen Mode. Is yhere a FAQ for this somewhere?

Can you post a picture of the board? Someone might be able to identify it and from there we can figure out if it should be compatible.

And what about Ranger - does it show anything for the card, and if so, what?

Best regards,

Niels

@daveyw

Looks like there might have been a RTFM error (though in my defense, I didn't get a manual). There was a power connector I didn't see until taking a pic. That seems to have done it. Resized Image

Now getting signal from the card, but WB isn't seeing it still. Will try to fix the image URL and see what Ranger says.

(Thanks all, so far.)

(Edit)
Ranger is not showing the second card.

Hmmm... looks like it could be an XFX Radeon 7850, which isn't listed on Hans' site. The Club 3D version is listed as working, but the Sapphire version is listed as not working (but I think that is mine, which I initially reported as not working but eventually got it to work).

However, it could also be the 7870, which is listed as not working.

Which version of the RadeonHD driver are you using?

Is it the version from the Enhancer Software?

@amigakit

I think it is not, just the one from the AmiStore, I'll try to get the version #.

For what it's worth, I do get the boot screen and such displayed on the new card.

(EDIT)
ATIRadeon.chip is version 53.29
RadeonHD.chip is 2.22

Tried a R7 250 card, still not seeing it in Ranger or Prefs. Do I need to do something to get it noticed? Also, would the existing PCIe card conflict/

Problem was that I had multiple boot partitions, and the kickstart updates were only going to the partition that I was booting into, not the one that Kickstart was being read from. I'm able to use the new card now, but the old isn't showing. I'm hoping that a standard 2nd card install will let me do so, so I will check for that.
