Try dropping the speed of the cpu. I had to set mine quite low to start with (about 266mhz before my A1 kicked in) Have you made sure that the voltage dipswitches on the motherboard are set to all off? I.E. the lowest setting possible 1.34Volts.

How you do that (dropping speed)? I assume with the DIP switch on the CPU module? Have you a table with DIP settings and speed values?

DIP switches on the MB are all set to OFF.

I was without my A1 from 8th August2005 to 25th March 2007. The only reason I know that is from my D-Net history.

Woow, quite a long time!

Yes I have a ton of serial cables, but as said before, I'm lazy.
The PSU voltages were tested before rebuilding the A1.
I just bought a PCI post code analyser to find what's the problem with the A1 MB (if any).

the dip switch settings are available on IntuitionBase.com. I started off with x2 and the A1 kicked into life. Once I had installed OS4 final I then started playing around with other setttings until I settled with x4.5 (on off off off). Having had one cpu blow I am not so willing to try overclocking, this setting gives me 1.266Ghz.
I don't know the reason why the A1 kicked into life at the lower speed, maybe others could enlighten us, all I know is that it worked for me.
Good luck

Woww, this is working! I set the multiplier at x2 but nothing on the screen. I then recheck all: I forgot to connect the VGA cable! When connected, UBoot shows up normally.

Thank you very much for your advice!
I am rebuilding the system right now and will do a "coucou" from the A1 when ready. Again, thank you so much!

A small 'coucou' from AWeb!
After reconnecting the 2 HDDs and tweaking UBoot a bit,
the A1 boots OS4 normally! Normally? Noooo!! It boots so
fast that I do not see it booting (WindowsXP since more
than 6 monthes, you know what I mean...)!

UBoot says I'm flying at 1.267GHz!

Arrrgh, what a wonderfull day, it's Chrismas in june!

Bye,
TMTisFree, now installing OS4 Final

What do you exactly mean with 'work'? I'm a user mostly and have almost no skill at programming, except with ARexx. And I'm lazy.

Your math puzzles me, or it is 7457's thingie to run at 1266MHz with x4.5 multiplier?

Fraid I don't know Jack. I just tried different settings until I had the right speed starting from 2x. I don't think the old speed table can apply with the new cpu but it still works somehow. 1266/4.5 =281 mhz......I don't know where that is coming from.

Yep, I know. Currently having one: my module appears to be missing one of L3 cache chips. Max is investigating the issue.Looks like it prevents the module from functioning correctly
