Does anyone know if its possible to boot OS4 without startup-sequence?

Yes, same as ever was press down both mouse buttons when booting to get to early startup screen, then choose the boot without startup sequance option.

Or there is a keyboard shortcut to do it too, that I forget off hand.

Is the problem that the users startup is executed *after* IPrefs ?

When I had this kind of problem (no boot of workbench),
I used my os4 cd installation to boot up and open a shell.
There, you can copy or modified your files or your prefs on your disk.

Since a lot of months without an amiga to love, I was lost.
Now I feel happiness again with a Sam Flex 800 .

Same way as with os3. Hold both mousebuttons for the
early startupmenu and select boot without startup-sequence.
There you can also select the drive to boot from.

Oh...already answered mmhh..i am to slow.

Yes, user-startup is being run last, iPrefs is near the top, so the assign doesn't exist at that time.

Thanks, I will try to boot without user-startup tonight.

Booting off CD doesn't work. It gets to the splash screen and stops. If I unplug my HDD, booting off CD works. My guess is that that boot priority of the HDD boot partition is too high.

Keyboard shortcuts for booting are:

HELP (Scrollock) - Early startup.
CTRL - Boots with no startup sequence.
ALT - Booot to workbench but doesn't run WBStartup

So for this instance press and hold CTRL just after you have rebooted is the best course to get you to a console.
