1. Bought the original game PC on GOG.
2. Downloaded Barony_OS4 from os4depot.
3. Unpacked Barony_OS4 to RAM:
4. I copied the date from GOG to Barony_OS4 RAM:
(books, images, Items, maps, models, music, sound)
5. Run from RAM: Barony_OS4 ... game created a cache file and ... Barony_OS4 it starts without any problems ... :)

PS.
Barony_OS4 does NOT WORK with SFS v 1.293, I can run only with RAM:

After copying Barons_OS4 from RAM: to HDD: ... I get a failure:

Thank you for your reply.
I use the Blessed edition and use the land files from the archive on OS4Depot. I also tried to change my locale to English and rebuild the models.cache, by removing it first and run again the game.
My system is a beta one and I bought the game from Hmble Bundle, using the linux version of the files.

When I run the game and I get the first item, the book on the table, it gives a wrong name and then I get the following crash. If I ignore it, the game continues just fine.

By checking the lang/en.txt file, the message that makes it crash must be a compination of the following lines
504 Picked up %s.#
1001 a brand new %+2d #
1053 a brand new #
1007 copy of "%s"#

As you can see the name of the item is not included. So it might be given with wrong characters by the engine itself. I would like to mention that this doesn't happen with all the items.

I remember having this kind of issue when use wrong datafiles. I will check the sizes of my datafiles, and bring it here, so we can compare

And by the way, tell plz what version of newlib.library you use

I think I found a solution. The problem accured when I used the Linux version of the files. The Linux versionis 64bit, but I am not sure if that's the problem.

I just tried with Windows 32bit version of the files and they seem to work just fine. I will play a little bit more with the game to see if there are other issues.

Data files should be the same for 32 and 64 bits, i think or you mess (still) with lang files, or there was some forgotten files copied, or just wrong ones.

For sake of interest you can extract both of them and compare by sizes. If they different then that it, just different versions.

But goot to know it is work for you.

Now i need to understand why it works on beta setups (and seems on x5k public ones), and didn't on other ones.

Tested from the public aos4 few update1 released with x5k , where i only copy ogles2.library v1.22 , warp3dnova.library 1.58, and radeonHD3.6. Installed Barony to NGFS parition.

The version of libs we have on public x5k release are:

dos.library 53.158
newlib.library 53.36
ngfs 54.34

So, newlib is ahead of your version on 6 revisions..

I may try to downgrade newlib.library to 53.30 for tests (dunno if it will works on x5k through)..
