Monitor Settings [SOLVED]
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

See User information
Hi,

Currently I have my A1 monitor resolution set to 1024x768...

I would like to set it to 1280x1024, but it's not listed in the Screen Modes (in prefs)...

I modified the Monitor ToolTypes, which now look like:
Quote:
BOARDTYPE=Radeon
CMPLENGTH=6
Picasso96Settings
(BORDERBLANK=Yes)
(BIGSPRITE=Yes)
(SOFTSPRITE=Yes)
IGNOREMASK=Yes
(DISPLAYCHAIN=Yes)
FAKENATIVEMODES=No
VSYNCMIN=60
VSYNCMAX=80
HSYNCMIN=31500
HSYNCMAX=48000
MODE=640x480@75
MODE=800x600@72
MODE=1024x768@60
MODE=1024x768@70
MODE=1024x768@72
MODE=1024x768@75
MODE=1280x1024@60
MODE=1280x1024@70
MODE=1280x1024@72
MODE=1280x1024@75
FAKENATIVEMODES=Yes
INTERRUPT=Yes

But still no luck !
My 2 Peecees are connected to the same monitor using
1280x1024 at 60 MHz with no problem... What am I missing ?

I have an A1XE + Radeon 9200
OS4 Final Update.

Thanks.

Jerry

Change the following values according to your monitor specification:

VSYNCMIN
VSYNCMAX
HSYNCMIN
HSYNCMAX

It helped here.

The mode "1280x1024x75" can't be done with an HSYNCMAX of only 48 kHz. You'll need at the very least 1024x75=76800 Hz, which is way over the 48000 limit you have set in the HSYNCMAX value.

As AmiKit said, change those values to agree with your monitor specs and it should work.

After changing the VSINC and HSYNC values to match your monitors spec, remove all the 1280x1024 resolutions but one which is 1280x1024@60 this should set the same mode your PC is using. If its an LCD monitor then its highly unlikely to be higher than that anyway.
You can do the same for the 1024x768 as you only need one entry for each resolution just set the frequency to you monitors recommended value.

A1XE G4 800Mhz, 512Mb, Sil0680, ATI9200se 128Mb, Sounblaster Live & Catweazle Mk3 with SID chip +OS4.1.
A4000 233MhzPPC/04025Mhz, 112Mb, CyberPPC, OS3.9
Other Amiga's A4000, A2000 A500+, A500 & various hardware. 15+ other retro machines.

Couple other things to check/change. You have FAKENATIVEMODES=No & FAKENATIVEMODES=Yes, you need to make up your mind on which one you want.

Severin mode on:

The Picasso96Settings needs to be commented out, (Picasso96Settings), & the Picasso96Settings file must not be in DEVS:, put it in sys:storage if you want to save it.

Severin mode off:

Would help if you gave us the brand & model # of your monitor so the specs can be read.

Look, only one leg, count em, one!

Thanks for all your reply.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time this weekend... Thanks to the weather, I was pushed to do some gardening ! (Don't get married, I tell ya !)

I will try tonight if I find the doc of my monitor...

If your monitor isn't too old (or a no-name product) you
could try to dig up the tech sheet of it on the net.

@All,

Sorted !

I just modified HSYNCMAX to 76000 and it works...

And I also used this opportunity to "clean" it up a bit as recommended...

Now it works very well !

Thanks to all.
