Smiling :-D (Part 2)

Just to let you guys know that I am still going

Here's another type of Smilies, For years I have been bugging Jahc to incorportate graphical smilies in Wookiechat.
Now I know that they are not for the purists, but I feel they are essential if the Amiga platform is to ever (if it ever does) appeal to the average user. Graphical Smilies etc are on just about every irc program for most other computing platforms.

Until now, no Amiga communications program has had graphical smilies.

So, finally jahc has lead the way...
Resized Image Of course, they are off by default.

This latest release is beta. It will be available in the full course of time.

I'll let you know if he doesn't

Wookiechat is free btw

This is whats in BETA 5 (unreleased) so far.. it still needs a bit of work here and there. I need to fix up the clipboard hook a bit for multi columned display..

- Leaving the mouse pointer over the top of the topic string gadget will make a help bubble appear with the channels topic inside. This feature is useful when you want to read the topic and its longer than the width of the string gadget.

- Graphical Smilies implemented. Go to "Main Settings > Server" and tick the boxes. Make sure you have gif or png datatypes installed on OS3 systems. The following smilies are currently hardcoded: :P :D :) ;) :/ :(

- I've now labeled the Download Path field in the Incoming Transfers window. I thought the window looked neater without it, but many users could not figure out how to configure their downloads directory without it! so its there now!

- You can now choose an External Sound Replayer for CTCP SOUND requests. Go to "Main Settings > Sounds"

- The brackets around nicks is now gone in the MultiColumned display mode.

- The space on either side of the separater bar in the muliticolumned display is now larger (8 pixels instead of 4), and looks nicer IMO. But it can now be configured as a power user function. Save your settings, and edit settings.txt. Look for the "DELTA" line.

EDIT: Oh, P.S. BenderIRC had graphical smileys years ago! But I couldnt get that to run very well under OS4.. havent tried it recently though. :)

Let me know if/when you need updated french catalog. I'm not an IRC guy so I don't use WookieChat on a regular basis and I don't follow every beta you release.

Is this related to the smiling in: http://www.amigans.net/modules/newbb/ ... .php?topic_id=933&forum=3 ?

Or is this a new type of smile altogether? We can't have too much smiling around here, it is not the Amiga way!

Its simply not quite true.
AmiGG (Polish IM - but with english localisation) have graphical, animated smilies since 2005.

Oups. Sorry for that. Temporary server malfunction. Server will be available again soon as possible.
Anyway those links should be accesible (my home server):

Animated emoticons are in chat window, and in emoticons selection window.

Decent jabber implementation (not this poor like in Jabberwoocky ;) ) is on the way. And ICQ.
Donations are always welcomed. ;)

Except for NewsRog which had them years ago !

A pity NR crashes under OS4 as it was easily the best News application on the Amiga and anything else too.

The graphics are square cos I cant work out transparencies.. if you dont like them, you can make your own and copy them over! Of course, you can switch these on and off on the fly.

Also, heres the latest entry from the changelog:

- Tried to fix history (using cursor up/down). It seems to function perfect now. The problem was that I have a list of channels, with a pointer for traversing the list, and a pointer for the currently viewed channel at all times. It seems I wasnt performing the sanity check on the right pointer. Also, I fixed the problem where it wouldnt display the last entry. This is yet another example of code I wrote years ago when still learning that has been redone better, now that I'm getting better at programming.

(I havent gotten it to crash now).

EDIT: She's so beautiful!

Thanks, mate, great work

How about adding some sounds to commands one can type
(given you have them sounds installed), like
/me burps (obviously)
/me yawns
/me screams
/me laughs
/me sobs and so on ?

That would make a nice feature request...and imagine, a whole
lot of jahc's body sounds on your HD, just I M A G I N E ! ! !
