I too like so many others is an old skool Amiga user. I had at the start of my childhood an Amiga 500, then an Amiga 600 and finally an Amiga 1200. Then a few years ago with a Replay Board, and more recently got a Rasberry Pi 4 to start emulating an Amiga.
I more recently (about six months ago) purchased a used AmigaOne SAM 460EX and fell in love with the Amiga OS4. I ordered an X5000 a few weeks ago from AmigaKit and will soon be the proud owner of one.
I am re-learning so much forgotten familiarization with Amiga but it seems to be coming back pretty easily. I hope to contribute to this group in the years to come as I learn more about my X5000. Thank you.
In case you are wondering, here is my specs:
SAM 460EX (selling this so will be eventually gone) -2GB RAM -500GB WD Solid State Drive (SSD) -DVD/CD Burner -SATA 3114 Card -Radeon R7 250E 1GB Graphics Card
X5000 (ordered and excited!) -comes with 2GB RAM (have 16GB ready to go!) -comes with 1TB HDD (have 1TB SSD ready to go!) -have an R9-270X 2GB ready to go!
Thank you for sharing some information about your Amiga systems.
I have an A2000HD system and an Eyetech Micro-A1 system.
A2000HD came with AmigaOS 1.3 ... later upgraded to 3.1. This system has a floppy drive, hard drive, CD-ROM drive, and Microway flicker fixer card. The Flicker Fixer allows me to use a VGA monitor.
Micro-A1 with IBM 750 GX CPU and 256 MB RAM -AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 1 -Western Digital hard drive -LiteOn DVD combo drive (DVD/CD reader/CD burner)
My wife and son and I also have some Microsoft systems.
I have QNX on one of these and AROS AspireOS a laptop.
Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm seriously debating purchasing an older system as well. I have been looking at some A1200s and A600s, but not sure the wife would be okay with it. My home office is filled with so much stuff, this might put her over the edge lol. I'm bit envious that you have A2000HD but who knows maybe after I get this SAM460EX off my hands, I just might do it!
I just started looking in to AROS as I am very interested in the Vampire v4 SA. Maybe (yet another system).... =)
Thank you! I would really love to get out there, but living in the Mid-West makes it difficult (and expensive). Given that I am back to the scene, I just might have to figure it out. Yeah, I have been reading alot about the legal troubles, but hopefully we can get through it and on to progress and development for the Amiga platform (fingers crossed).
welcome back to AMIGA! Congrats on your new X5000..I'm sure you'll be right at home with it and AmigaOS4.1FE Update 6 (or whatever update we're on leading to 4.2)
btw, I see you've got the same Amiga bug that makes us fix & collect classic miggies as well...I must warn you that once you start down that slope there's no going back my fellow amigan...you'll never have enough time and space and......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
