New English-language Amiga Magazine
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Folks,

In addition to the venerable Amiga Future and the Poland-based Amiga User, it looks like English-speakers can add another Amiga print magazine to their subscription lists: Amiga Addict. I'm not familiar with the publishers -- they're in the UK -- but Issue #1 is scheduled for December and their taking pre-orders now:

They're also on Discord and Twitter, so check them out. I've already purchased a subscription; hopefully others will give the new magazine a try.

They did it! First issue has been posted to subscribers as of today. More is available on their blog:

Yep. In fact I ordered all available issues of Amiga NG (and Amiga User, for that matter) some time ago. Some issues arrived, some haven't yet. I suspect COVID and generally higher postal volume this month is to blame.

At least I hope so.

Yes, perhaps the Amazon's overload of postal services.

(This is kind of off-topic, but is related to an article they published.)

On the Amiga-Addict website, there is an article about PageStream. It claims that PageStream 5.0 works with only "occasional problems."

I can't get PageStream 5.0 to run on my OS4.x setup at all. Is there some trick to get it to work?

I find it hard to believe. I was able to run the latest 68K version of PageStream 5 on my OS4 machine, but it required a massive stack, took ages to start, and locked up often. The OS4 build is not even there, and the Windows version of PgS 5 (while being the most complete of the range) is not 100% stable either.

I have a problem with articles like that because they create the impression that PageStream 5 is quality software, possibly enticing people into buying something that on numerous occasions has been proved to be scam. The article's final verdict that it's a "fully-featured professional grade software that can still compete with other platforms" is misleading, as are the following pieces of information from the PageStream website:

"PageStream 5.0 for the AmigaOS4 platform: This product is in-stock and ready for delivery."
Might be ready for delivery but definitely not ready for use.

"We here at GrasshopperLLC are continually trying to improve our products"
No, in fact they haven't updated their products in ten years.

I guess I'm glad that I'm not the only one frustrated with the situation of being unable to run the PPC version of PageStream 5 on Amiga OS4.
(But I was really hoping that some other users had figured out a way to do it.)
