@ddni Spectre right, Radeon RX didn't work on X1000. AEON has sources of firmware, but so far didn't fix it.
But anyway, most RX works fine with 2D, but half of them have issues with 3D (random freezes). I got 3 different RX cards, and only one of them fully working. So only tests.
As of at least October 2020 the X1000 CFE sources were in the hands of ExecSG team sow would assume A-Eon has them so only implementation is stopping it from happening.
Th RX550 and RX560 cards are currently the only ones that work with all the Radeon Polaris driver features . The higher models currently have issues with 3D .
Just because the RX cards won't display/work in CFE doesn't mean they couldn't be used in an X1000, or am i missing something?
As long as the CFE init is successful the card should be perfectly usable later on after the RX driver fires, right?
The differences would be a *very* long black screen/no signal while it loads the modules (until the driver finally fires), no fancy(?) firmware boot/display and no possibility to change CFE values (but who does that on a recurring basis anyway?).
Even switch to use a Boot-DVD instead should still be possible...albeit with an error prone press on the keyboard ("in the dark") at the right moment.

@AmigaKit/AEon
Please update CFE for the X1000 to support RX cards...
(*crickets*) (*more crickets*) (*tumbleweed*) (*no more crickets*)
The same I had with X1000 + RX460, tested on January 2021. RX don't works with X1000 (yet)

You may recall that in 2012, A-EON Technology Ltd paid a Hyperion contractor for the last CFE update to fix support for the Voodoo graphics cards and a few minor issues. This was back in the days before A-EON operated it's own Amiga Developer Team server. These days all A-EON source code is held in A-EON controlled server repositories without relying on any third parties (lesson learned!).
When then RX compatiblity issue was first identified I asked for the source code to be returned and updated and was told that the source code was lost. It later transpired that the source code was not actually lost despite what I was told at the time. All along the former Hyperion management had the source code and after some persuasion handed it over to the ExecSG team, not A-EON.
So the next step is for A-EON to retrieve the source to the Amiga Developer server and complete the work within the Amiga Developer Team.
Apologies for the delay to this. The importance on controlling your own code base has been highlighted with this situation.
Thank You very much for the update. Your latest increase of communication with the community is very positive IMHO. Looking forward to install the update when it's released.
Just a side question, would there be any advantage in having U-Boot instead of CFE on the X1000?
I may be wrong but I think the x1000 couldn't use uboot (even if it would be adapted) due to a different bios hardware technology used...but I might have dreamt that.
@Raziel I don't see what would prevent U-Boot running on X1000. It exists for very different devices. I am not aware of a constraint coming from a BIOS or something else. Anyway, porting U-Boot would be a huge work, to be done by someone who knows U-Boot, the platform ... and has time!
