Should boot from the USB Stick once the option is enabled in U-boot. Unless thre is a compatability issue wth your Radeon Rx550 as well .

I probabaly better wait when 100% compatible card arrived, and everything will be clear :) (ebay says it will arrive in 2 weeks time)

To get the output to serial do the following :

1) hold down the Escape key while booting to get into uboot
2) type "setenv stdout serial" then enter key

But that all if keyboard work , right? I mean, if i have non working num lock after "VESA: OK", then how to know if keyboard work or not. But will try, maybe it just num lock fail.

you are doing it blind but not saving the settings .
if done ok you should get to key presses responses in the terminal .

The keyboard attached to the Sam460cr is still the input keyboard and output on the terminal

Oh yes! Blind typing makes it! Num-lock, caps-lock, i.e. all led keys no reaction, but typing blindly "setenv stdout serial" make the things appears on serial ! And there is my output:

As I see none of the boots are USB ones, so no surprise it fails. So how it should be for one of that usb ports at back of plate , something like "setenv boot1=USB0" ?

Lookls like ths redirection to serial also prevents auto boot at the count down timer so you either have to select the option from the menu presented in the serial output at boot or set back the stdout to vga.

Can be done from AmigaOS CLI with :
nvsetvar stdout=vga

or from the U-Boot console with

setenv stdout vga
saveenv

Ok so doing that:

setenv stdout serial
setenv boot1 usb
saveenv

then after reboot, I have:

From what we can make some points:

1. Non-ability to have uboot output on some RadeonHD and on Radeon RX are a BIG issue for newcomers (we can sort it as we have experienced, but newcomers surely will cry)

2. by default there no redirect to serial, knowing that all the cards today Radeon HD and Radeon RX, need to be done if no uboot will be fixed for Radeon RX.

3. by default there should be a boot from USB too, of course!

4. Num lock/caps lock didn't work until you boot to os4, so that can't control if the keyboard works or not.

Anyway, thanks a bunch, Julian!

And the good news that my Radeon RX 550 which is collecting dust now can be used in Sam460 (and that one has no need for additional power btw). Through that means need to buy a riser and a case with the ability to set the card vertically (which means it will be not a slim one). And that the same keyboard works in all Amigas: x5000, pegasos2, and sam460 (it's usual Logitech k120 one)

You are very welcome.

It will indeed be a challenge for newcomers to get up and running without a card that shows U-boot.

To enable booting from PCI SATA cards

Set the following from Workbench CLI if not already set:

nvsetvar boot2=ssii
nvsetvar boot3=s4sii

And what is funnier, after I touch a few times radiator on the CPU it just .. peeled off !! And i see under it some strange piece of paper :) what is it for ?:) Probably I need now to use some new thermal paste without that "paper" between cpu and radiator ..

You need to put the CPU fan (which you'll find in the motherboard box) on the radiator, it's mandatory !

The "paper" under the heatsink/radiator does indeed look a bit strange.

Yeah, it looks not good visually. Didnt know what a purpose of this. Even bounds of this paper looks like someone cutted them manually. And whole board just not clean, like touched a lot by hands, i had to clean it myself.

yes, it's very strange.
Please kas1e check also this...
when I send the board to you no one paper was between cpu and cooler....
Another hit, in the package with the fan you can find also his power adaptor and the screws to fix it.

Obviously you are welcome to contact me or Max for every issue.

I would also to thanks publicly Spectre660 for the support he had to you.

Best Regards
Enrico

no, I checked personally the board, I suspect a problem with the temperature variations during transport that have moved the thermal tape between the CPU and the heatsink.

Anyway is the first time I have this issue, very very strange.

I have two hands, they are many ;)

I hope after this, you will be very happy with our Sam460CR

Best regards

Is Silicon Image 3132 (via PCI-Express x1 slot) supported or not?

The manual says:
0680 (PATA via PCI slot)
3114 (SATA via PCI slot)
3512 (SATA via PCI slot)

The 2015a Uboot source code adds 3132.

Moving the SATA board from the PCI to the PCI-Express x1 slot would free space for a two slot graphics board in the Sam460ex/cr (losing the sound in the cr model).

Has anyone used a 3132 card in a Sam460?

Apparently the 3132 would not work with U-boot for booting in the Sam460ex when A-Cube were experimenting at that time.
Would also not work properly in Linux as they sent me a card to try .

The solution for the 2 slot video card is to use a pciex16 extension cable and mount the card to the left of the motherboard in a full size case .

Thanks. Not booting any OS, or not booting AmigaOS 4.1?

Yes, I know the extension cable solution. Any cable you recommend?
