AmigaOS4 devs made new little update : part3

Another little update from AmigaOS4 devs, fire up your amiupdates! This time this is C:Date and Prefs/Time which were updated.

Remember, you need previous amiupdate updates to be installed as well, and i.e version.library should be 53.18+ as before.

In C:Date there were removed the obsolete timesync.library RS_ERRSTR tag for the RemoteSync() call and replaced it with the new tags; RS_ERRBUFFER and RS_ERRBUFFERLEN.

For Prefs/Time, were added RS_ERRBUFFER & RS_ERRBUFFERLEN tags to time.c RemoteSync() call and removed the obsolete RS_ERRSTR tag.

The update is necessary to avoid crashes and bad behaviors in those commands.

Hi, I doubt now my connection for Amiupdate. I have set up three servers:
- update.amigaos.net
- amiupdate.codebench.co.uk
- www2.hyperion-entertainment.com

Which is the correct one ?

For me it doesn't seem to matter, nothing is updated from any of them. I didn't try all possible combinations.

I've have the same three set up and am not getting the update either.

1) "update.amigaos.net" needs to be enabled.

2) You must have a hyperion account to sign-in with your login details.

3) You must have already installed the libs:version.library 53.18+
with the last update 2 + hotfix available for download from
the hyperion website; hyperion-entertainment.com

"Yes" to all three of your points. Still, the only uipdate it shows right now is for a RAR replacement, which I have chosen not to use.

The correct version.library 53.18 is the only dependancy.
Are you sure ?

Type the following line in a shell and hit enter, and show what it says;
version file sys:libs/version.library

Also, do the same for sys:c/date and sys:prefs/time and show what it says.

Make sure to not have installed the AEon version of the "version"
The correct one should be the official one of the update 2 (Hyperion)

Hi to all and thanks for your help.

The C/Date file has not been updated. It is still in its version 53.7 of 08/18/20. The SYS:libs version.library is 53.18. I still have the old Hyperion Copy, List, and Version files.

To make AmiUpdate work, I only activate the update.amigaos.net server. When AmiUpdate asks me for the Username and Password, I provide the one that allows me to register my softwares on the Hyperion site (is this the correct one?).

However, the update does not work.

If I am not wrong, after you do the steps you mentioned, in RAM: you will find a log file from amiupdate, were you will see if any error occurred. This might help, especially if the authentication failed for some reason. You need to use the username and password you use at the Hyperion Website.

There's a file called "SiteList" in the AmiUpdate directory. Look in it and check your username and password is correct.

If you delete it it doesn't recreate (not sure if this is a bug), and if the details are wrong it silently fails without prompting (this probably is a bug).

1. Try as I might, I cannot find this file. I also used the find utility, besides just opening the directory to look for it. I get this: System:System/AmiUpdate/AmiUpdate
and this:
System:System/AmiUpdate/RollBack/2021-01-20/AmiUpdate

But I don't find the SiteList file anywhere.

2. Over time I have added server addresses to AmiUpdate. For good measure and once and for all, what are all of the working sites to use for searching with AmiUpdate? Currently I have:
amiupdate.codebench.co.uk
update.amigaos.net
www.amiupdate.net
It also searches ww2.hyperion-entertainment.com. Entering my hyperion username and passwrod there lets it scan there as well even though it's not listed in my servers.

edit: I have now added ww2.hyperion-entertainment.com to the server list, but still get anothing but the RAR update listed.

I did nothing more than what I had specified above. I made AmiUpdate work. I specified the connection parameters, and I was able to retrieve the two files date_cmd-53.11.lha and Prefs_Time-53.11.lha.

All this is described in RAM:au.log
