Enhancer 2.1: va.library
Just popping in

See User information
Enhancer 2.1 update is now available via Updater!-)

My first question is: which graphics cards are now supported by va.library? The doc file specifies a bunch of RX cards but talks vaguely about 'Radeon HD' support added already in some older version.

Are HD 6000 cards now supported? And how about R7 240/250 (with Oland Pro chip)?

Only Southern Island/GCN1 and Polaris cards are supported, so no HD 6000.

240/250/250E are GCN1 cards, they should work with va.library as far as I know.

If you're going to upgrade then you must choose a card with GDDR5 memory, DDR3 cards aren't supported.

As I understand it, the SI support comes with the additional purchase of DVPlayer.

Best regards,

Niels

Like i understood the va.library for SI cards should be able to download via the enchancer updater when you bought the v54 DvPlayer?
Can anyone confirm this or had it done meanwhile?

At some point yes. But that point may not been reached yet .

ktadd had not received it yet with his purchase of the latest DVPlayer.

That cannot be right as most R7-240/250 graphic cards come with DDR3 memory chips.
We need more up to date information on what cards that works on what motherboards.

The R7-240/250 & DDR3 issues are mainly seen with the Sam460ex machines. But some R7-240/250cards wont work on X5000 machines either .

I have tested a R7 240 with 2GB DDR3 and it works in X5000 with AmigaOS. But it is totally incompatible with MorphOS and does not offer any sort of HW acceleration with PPC Linux. But I'm waiting for a new HD 6450 board to arrive... It is currently the best option for X5000, as it is compatible with all OSs, offers HW acceleration (Video & 3D) with Linux and it's max power consumption is only 19W!

In the version history of va.library there is mentioned Radeon HD driver starting from v. 1.5. What does that mean, is it a typo...?

Version 1.8 - 2021/09/21
- RadeonHD/RX: Fixed a bug that caused vaPutSurface() to render to the RastPort
delayed by up to 1 frame, potentially drawing outside the window when
screen compositing effects are disabled
- DDK: Fixed the vaPutSurface() bug above in the skeleton driver too

Version 1.7 - 2021/09/21
- RadeonHD/RX: vaPutSurface() was rendering relative to the screen origin on
screens with compositing effects disabled. FIXED (#814)
- DDK: Fixed the vaPutSurface() bug above in the skeleton driver too

Version 1.6 - 2021/07/22
- RadeonHD/RX: Using vaPutSurface with rast-ports and bitmaps could result in
the rast-port's scissor being applied to the bitmap (i.e., only a subrectangle
copied to the bitmap). FIXED

Version 1.5 - 2020/03/06
- Added RadeonHD driver

The RadeonHD driver includes the support for RadeonHD Southern Islands Cards so to give the current info quoting Amiga-Kit :

"The UVD Southern Islands driver for VA Lib is working and we are beta testing to iron out the bugs. As soon as it is available, we will put it out on Updater utility.".
