Sam460LE (Limited Edition) is a PowerPC motherboard engineered and produced by ACube Systems and it is totally made in Italy.
The Sam460LE bundle contains:
Micro-ATX form factor motherboard, with enough space for double slot graphic cards MicroSD Slot at the rear of the board, so it can operated from the back. 1 backplate 7 USB ports Gigabit ethernet 4 usable boot media and more... The Sam460LE supports 3 expansion slots: PCI, PCIe 1x and PCIe 4x.
It's basically great to have hardware options especially with the "chip shortage" around, but it wouldn't be a "good" deal...for me at least, just sayin'
I do not own any Sam460 and I do not plan to buy one, since I have plenty of NG machines. As much as I know, these boards are well tested with AmigaOS 4, which is working pretty well with the Sam boards.
What makes me sceptical though, are the two following lines from their website: Quote:
- we'll announce on all social media when the production starts - we'll also announce when the production has been completed
This is not specific at all. When do they plan to deliver? And if you remember, the previous batch took a couple of extra months until they delivered. But even if this is the case, it is better to have a couple of months delay than 5+ years like the A1222.
On the other hand, as Raziel said, it is great to have hardware available for someone to buy, so to increase the user base.
@All Acube always delivers, and I didn't remember they being in any dirty deals. So I think it is safe to prepay.
But of course, you need to be ready that it will take another year, of course. Imho 250E and wait a year is better than nothing at all. Also, you can grab those 250 back at any time if I understand right, and when it's Acube and Max with Enrico I think we can be on 95% sure that all will be done as they wrote.
I will reserver one for myself, even if i already have Sam460CR. Just for sake of having second Sam in case, the first one dies for any of the reasons. Plus it is also interesting that they change the design of the board a bit, so the 2slot video card will not block PCI anymore.
They should produce the A1222 instead of this board. Even though the A1222 is outdated already, it has onboard Sata. Good thing that communication regarding the upcoming A1222 like last board changes, and availability are well taken care of

@kas1e Please, what frequency Sam460 PCI port is? On web pages https://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=hardware&pid=5 there is written 33MHz. But in User manual there is 66MHz, same as in AMCC460Ex datasheet. Please, can you confirm the correct value? Thanks.

@kas1e It will be great. Ranger is OK. There should be something like Status: 66MHz on your PCI (probably SATA) card info. It can also be in serial debug, but I am not sure if Sam460 shows it.
But no stress. It is just for information. Thanks.

I'm wondering about the form factor on this board...
This is really a question for ACube: Will this microATX board fit in the Psile case the original SAM's shipped in?
My Psile (from my 440) now has a retarded A1222 in it. Seems like it might be a lot better putting in something proven & functional than the crippled Tabor.
P.S.: in case of need Sam460 PCI slot probably can be expanded via PCI-NxPCI riser. CPU has internal PCI artbiter supporting up to four external devices. But this info is theoretical, from CPU manual. I never tried it, have no Sam460.

While looking for Battle Squadron for AmigaOS 4 on the website of Amedia Computer France, I noticed that they have launched a pre-order for a complete Sam460LE computer. You can check it out here:
- Tried posting this in connection with the news about the launch of the Sam460LE, but the formatting came out completely wrong. Posting it here instead where it is readable. -
It's worth mentioning that there are two retailers (as far as I know) offering complete Sam460LE bundles.
Relec in Switzerland with The Red One Limited Edition:
"Ready to run configuration with a little Micro ATX slim case, the Sam460LE 1,10GHz motherboard, 2GB memory module, 240GB SSD 2.5 harddisk, Radeon HD5450 2GB graphic's card, Audio PCI Express card, PCI Sata card, the AmigaOS 4.1 software."
