Turned on my X1000 and didn't hear the usual start up chingle so checked to make sure my speakers were on and yup, next replaced audio cable and still no sound, next got another pair of speakers and nope that wasn't it either SOOOOO looks like onboard sound just stopped working...no big deal since I've got a few PCI sound cards lying around somewhere.
what sound cards are you guys rockin in your machines ?
It just seems odd that the hardware would stop. Can you bung in a temp replacement hdd with a quick and fresh install of os4feu2 and see if it works with that?
If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear. George Orwell.
Well, I had the network card in my X5000 also just stop working, although I had problems with it from day one, and my Amiga was switched off and not used for long periods during the pandemic.
yup strange and my X1000 is normally on every day but come to think of it I was sharing a speaker system with my 1200 Tower and I did plug a few chords the wrong way without shooting off the amp so maybe could have caused some magic smoke ? who knows but can’t be bothered messing with setting up a new partition etc as there’s all kinds of cheap PCI-e sound cards nowadays that are good
well only good thing about my onbaord sound chip breaking is that now that I've got my case out of the mancave and opened up I've been meaning to install an SSD back up drive for a while since my 'real' HD in there has got a ton of km's ..er miles on it
