Yam and Gmail

..and I am starting with questions :D

I finished with some backups from my old drives so now it is turn to config all apps.

Started with YAM, because it is my favorite e mail client and all my old mail are there.. I installed last version that I could find (22.05.21) and try to use gmail, but it is not working. Some password errors, so I wold to know is YAM supported gmail at the moment? I do not know is there some problems with SSL or something.

Here working fine YAM+GMAIL (using YAMdev10 nightly build).

GMAIL security settings have changed.
You need 2 perform this 2 steps to get gmail again working on YAM:

is that POP3 or IMAP?,
since last time i checked IMAP on gmail demands oauth (liboauth which to my surprise exists on amigaOS 4.1, but as the outdated and cumbersome 1.03)
oauth should be at least version 2.1 (there should be a newer version coming called ... OAUTH 2.2),
but according to the guys who made the bloody thing it is easier to port, easier to maintain, and more secure it is also easier to implement into programs like email programs and browsers.

AFAIK YAM doesn't support IMAP.
IMAP should work without any changes if you use a modern mail client.

OK I made the configuration you say but my accounts doesn't work with YAM.

What can I do now?

Did you create a "new" password for YAM program using

If you did, then you should use such password on YAM account settings (POP3 and SMTP) instead of the "original" one.

My YAM user version for years is V2.6p1, i did dl v2.10 to try with no luck, the error message is it can't connect to the server. 2-step was turned on & a 16 number pw was created. There are 3 boxes in yam that call for a pw so kind of confusing what boxes require what pw, new one or the normal gmail pw. Gmail says pop.gmail.com is the mail server, some are saying imap.gmail.com works. Gmail also asked what "app" to create a pw for, not sure if that matters, my "device" shows as Mac OS. The new pw has 4 sets of 4 numbers, maybe thats the way it should be entered instead of 16 continuous numbers? Using Odyssey on os4 doesn't make it easy either. Drinking could become the next option.

1: application (choosed Mail)
2: system (choosed Other and typed AmigaNG)

and changed in YAM cfg. on all password gadgets (on GMAIL account)

Yes I did and now my usual 2 accounts work again,but I have a new one with new password that doesn't work.

Selecting mail for the app worked, I picked Mac as the device as that was what gmail recognized, The pw has spaces, but I entered it as 1 continuous pw. All good again, hope others can use this info to get yam working again.

Great.
The spaces between each 4 letters is only eye candy, just for better "see" it and anotate, if you copy and paste such password you see it all "togehther" without spaces.
