Infamous Black Amiga Os 4.1 Splash Screen Freeze

EDIT: Update, this is a red herring: see comment #5.
===
I have caught the serial log for the following two situations:

1 - When the X5000 boots successfully (the majority of the time - 4/5 times)
2 - When the X5000 does not boot by freezing on the black Amiga OS 4.1 splashscreen.

In order to rectify 2, I issue a hard reset. This situation can happen from cold or warm reboots, but these logs are from cold boots.

Resized Image

Working boot on the left and the not-working boot (freeze) on the right.

The text to the right (in green) that goes off the end of the screen says:
Quote:

[USB] WARNING | "hub.usbfd" | "HUB" | Device did not attach after 10ms reset recovery (error -19). Retrying
attachment on port 1 of hub "Front Roo
thub (ehci.usbhcd/1)" (ifc 0x6EDF3180)

Can someone please offer some advice. It seems like an issue with USB, but why is this happening? The computer does not budge an inch and sometimes this happens, and sometimes it does not.

It seems like it is the hub port? But, I am unsure why this has happened only recently and inconsistenly!

Thank you.

The log entry you're pulling forth about USB is probably due to hardware timing. The hub driver tries to be fast, testing port reset after 10ms, but a hardware root hub may take up to 50ms to complete port reset.
What you see is the port reset not being complete after 10ms. Since you don't see any more warnings the port reset has completed within 20ms.

Also, the log entry is the top log entry in the file, which is the oldest log entry of the lot. So this is unlikely to have anything to do with the actual boot lockup you experience.

Yeah, I was using Term4.8 on my classic machine incorrectly. I was not copying the entire buffer.

I will come back to this thread once I have a full log of 2 things:
1 - a successful boot
2 - a non-successful or freezing splashscreen boot.

I think you are right. This USB thing is probably not the issue.

Regards.

From cold boot: amiga splashscreen 4.1 went to black screen and the computer froze (left side)

From cold boot: successful boot on a previous day

As usual, hard reset (pressing the reset switch) results in a successful boot.

This is starting to happen way too frequently now.

Can someone help? Is this something to do with the sound card!?

Can you enhance the debug level while booting?

Something like debug_level=10 instead of 1?
Don't know what the correct setting in uboot is

I will do. Sounds like a good idea.

I will report back when the issue reproduces itself.

Well, the weird continues. Turned on the X5000 from cold and got a half finished desktop screen without the background and the serial log saying:

[RAMLIBOpeningsolo_one.audio
[elf] .rodata 0x6AE94000-0x6AE94658 Workbench:Devs/AHI/solo_one.audio (sh_flags
0x02
read-only
[RAMLIBNewStk_IniResident(solo_one.audio)

free=100732wants=1003512

No SOLO_ONE found
! :-(

Completely frozen. Again, shutting down and starting up resulted in a successful boot.

I really hate inconsistent behaviour.

Actually, the NO SOLO_ONE found message I get on a successful boot too. The difference is, the system just froze and I did not receive
[RAMLIBFinished Openingsolo_one.audio

and the continuation.

I tried NGFCHECK and that seems to be okay too.

Very confusing.
