Official release date of Doom3 for AmigaOS4

At the time Doom 3 was released video card sizes were 64, 128 or 256MB so a more modern card with 2GB should not have a problem with the VRAM requirements of the game. What matters is that the card is supported by Warp 3D Nova.

Radeon HD 77xx-79xx series graphics card (excluding the Radeon HD 7790)
Radeon HD R7 240/240D
Radeon HD R7 250E/250/250X/265
Radeon HD R9 270/270X/280/280X
Radeon RX 460/470/480/540/550/560D/560/570/580

It also requires Enhancer 2.2 for the latest drivers so at the moment only A-EON developers and beta testers can run the game. Anyone else has to wait for the public release before they can beta test the game.

My only experience with Huno's 3D ports is that on my setup it doesn't run.I am talking about Return To Castle Wolfstein or Reborn.

And I think Amedia point me last year when they returned my X5000 that my gfx card was of 2 TB I think.Have to ask again maybe.

The best graphic cards have 8GB ram.
4Gb, 6Gb is not uncommon.

System memory is allways 2Gbytes,
hope your reading on gfx boards tab.

As I understand it 2D / OS can only use the smaller number,
while 3D drivers can use the larger number for textures.

Is that not enough to run RTCW or Doom 3? Why?

Hi everyone,

In the upcoming Monthly Roundup for July, I was hoping to include a couple of comments on how the new Doom 3 port for AmigaOS 4 plays. I have no possibilities of playing it myself, but hopefully some of you have.

If you would like to share your experiences with Doom 3 in a few lines here, that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Any news on the new Enhancer which is needed for this game btw?

The current beta is not very playable in terms of FPS, but good news that Huno already found where culpit is, and working on. So probably next beta will be the one expririence with which can be shared :)

Great to read that Huno has found the cause of fps issues.
The port loads and looks great on AmigaOS4. Amazing what Hunos’ EGL pack and the Enhancer pack contributors have done for the graphics subsystems. Well done all!!

OK,so no need to upgrade to the Enhancer Pack 2 no? Instead I must buy a new gtaphics card now? Which brand do you recommend me?

Don't bother I only have money now for the reparation of my ACA 500 and to return back my A1200.But maybe in some close or distant future?

Only one more thing about the Enhancer Pack.If I have version 1.1 downloaded somewhere in my HD can they A-EON make me a discount if I buy version 2.2?
