AmiTV 0.4 (CX2388X and Bt8x8)

See User information
Hi everybody.

http://www.retroreview.com/iang/AmiTV_0.4.lha

is where you want to go if you want to try out my current development version.

It currently looks first for a Cx2388x chipset, then falls back to the Bt8x8. If you only have one TV card installed, like any sane person, this won't make much difference.
If however you have one of each, then use the command line option NOCX2388X or NOBT8X8 to disable one or other of the libraries. Or just delete the relevant library.

Please give generously (feedback, that is!). You'll still need a graphics card capable of overlay support and a 32 bit Workbench (I imagine).

It's possible if you get a blank window try activating it and pressing Enter. I think I fixed that bug but I'm not certain!
It's currently hardcoded to use what on my card is composite video - your input may vary!

Thanks to anyone who tries it and reports their findings!

So far heres what output i get

locking memory.
Frame buffer is at 0x000000.
mCard initially at 0x68449680.
mCard->MemorySpace = 0x6844a8d0.
Start DMA chunks - 288 blocks of 768.
DMA done.
Creating the program on the Bt8x8 chipset....
OK!
Interrupt 25 at 0x687267a0 added OK.
Stopping program!
Starting program on card 0x68449680.
Button pressed: 0x44.
RISC PC is 0x9038260.
INT STAT is 0x1b00000c.
INT MASK is 0x000800.
GPIO CTL is 0x000003.
Button pressed: 0xc4.

This produces a blue screen in a window which doesnt change when i press the arrow keys.
The keys are recognised in the output.

On the older versions i could tune in with the arrow keys.
Is it still the same?

That's good. That means it's working. :)

Seriously, a blue screen means no input, i.e. the input it's using has nothing connected. That input is the composite video on mine but presumably isn't in yours. Have you tried connecting a video source to all your inputs? One of them will probably display.

This version of AmiTV is a completely different program to the last, BTW. The arrow keys don't do anything in this version... yet. But I think I'll see to that in a moment!

Yes following your instructions i have a Vtech game playing
via composite in/yellow video cable.

Just tried svideo-no output-but then you`ve probably done nothing for that yet.

Looking good. Well done.

Can i change the size of the window?

If i use Ibrowse while using Amitv-Ibrowse locks the system solid when i close it.

AmiTv does not crash on exit here.

Yours is a Bt8x8 yes?

Doesn't entirely surprise me if there's something still going on somewhere. I'll try and make it as stable as I can but....

The problem of the Bt8x8 chipset locking the machine is still very much there - if you select a bad input eventually your machine will almost certainly crash.
However, stable inputs seem fine (and a lot better than I ever got it to run in the old version! :) )

The Cx2388x driver won't lock up the system but because it uses Intuiticks instead of interrupts the framerate is slower and you need to keep the window active.
This is a bit of a problem if you want to watch TV while working! When I get interrupts working though.....

In the meantime, go to
www.retroreview.com/iang/AmiTV_0.5.lha
and you can now use the Up and Down arrow keys to switch between inputs.

You may very well find that S-Video inputs are in black and white. I'm investigating that now....

Good luck - let me know how you get on!

s-video worked for me. Well, according to xawtv, my card seems to mirror the svideo as a composite signal on composite-2/3 somewhere. A summary of my findings is over on AW.net (here). It's nice to see it working though.

I'll download and play (hopefully) this weekend.

My computing is in a state of turmoil - I've been kicked out of me office, and its been painted all pink and girly for my youngest who is soon to move in (17 months ahhh!) when she does, I'll get a shiny new Ikea desk, and better yet, a spanky new TFT monitor !
havent decided if I want one with a TV in - it'll help with the A1200 situation, but might make the TV card redundant !

I'll have a look at the tuneable version too.

So which conexant card do you have exactly-Make and model.
It helps to have exactly what your using.

If i buy one.

This Bt8x8 will soon be unable to pickup any channels with its tuner and i do not want to hang a freeview box off the end.:)

Unfortunately I don't know of any program that grabs screenshots + the overlay. video is displayed in an overlay window.

Sorry, I don't have a cell phone with a built in camera. I do have a webcam but, to be honest, I don't have any proper PAL video feeds. Without a proper PAL signal, AmiTV 0.5 won't decode colour.
