Looks like DvPlayer might have problem with reading from disk, if reads in small blocks instead reading larger chunks, what type of HD do you have? spinning disks, can have long access times. filesystem also plays a part.

Emotion, maybe it’s not multi treaded, it makes no sense to me, decoding audio is easy task.

Mplayer is not using av.library can only use the YUV422 support in graphic card driver.

Yes, indeed, DvPlayer has problems reading from hard disk. I use a hard disk (not a SSD) which has been defragmented (to be sure). But reading from RAM: will cause the same jerkyness (not smooth) without big hickups.

For Emotion, I don't know. T'd like to have information from the authors but maybe it is not supported anymore.

And for MPlayer, I know, it was just for comparison. I don't know if VAAPi will be supported eventually (would it be complicated to add it)

On my side with the R9 280x and Emotion player, any hardware decoded video produce a grey screen with stuttered sound. I've tried 360p, 720p, and 1080p.

Have you tried turning INTERRUPTS to NO in devs: Monitor tooltypes this helped with my R9 270x allso in compesition turn to Video Ram and in power setting dynamic/video, since changing these no problems with emotion and dvplayer.

Yeah, for me only the Power setting Dynamic/video makes the video appears in Emotion, but the performance are not there and Emotion skips frame to sync A/V.
Also if I modify the Power setting once more, I've got the grey screen back, and change back the setting has no effect.

One serial it's a bit different but not sure if HW decoder is used:

I'm using Dynamic for video since there was no difference with High Power in all of my tests.

Hello. Frank is looking into the Emotion issue. He want to make an update if he finds the time.

Anyway. It is hard to find issues which worked before installing new drivers or on RadeonRX Cards. We don´t make Drivers and the new RadeonHD drivers does not work well here too... And this makes it e bit harder to find real issues.

@Support and no answers from us: AmiStore does not work since 10 Years!!! We get the support questions but can not answer to it because there is no Email to answer! So maybe you should ask here the coders too what they have done. It is all a bunch of sh**t.

Seeing a pattern on my Sam460ex with the 720p test video .

Out of syncs every 4 10ths of a second and audio pops on the next one after that .

Hi Spectre660 My Sam runs about halfway through the test video @720p with DVplayer/Emotion then the system freezes. Apart from that everything else works fine, Iwait till a updates Appears i think.Normal mpeg video work ok.

Crashes should be fixed.
So when the next updates is released they should be gone on Sam460 .

A couple of bug report made :

Issue with Screen blanker showed up .

Also popping audio and audio out of sync .

Are you using a Sound card or onboard audio ?
I am using the onboard audio.
It is ok with the RadeonRx driver and card but not the RadonHD driver and card.

I have no sound problem with DvPlayer (because it skips lots of frames when GPU can't cope with hardware decoding). On the contrary, Emotion doesn't skip any frame but when GPU is overloaded (many things moving on a high quality 720p video), sound will have hickups.

Nothing related with audio card, juste the GPU overloaded (BTW, you can feel that the GPU is overloaded since the mouse slow down when you move it on the WB).

Some 720p videos will play without any problem (not many things moving, less compression and so on...) whereas other will put the GPU on its knees.

I guess there is room for improvements in Emotion, DvPlayer AND the Radeon HD v5 driver.

The GPU should be able to play 1080p videos with VA so I think there is another problem. Maybe DMA or IRQ related or something different.

Bear in mind that there may be differences in performance and operation (Sam460 no GART) between the 4 different models of AmigaOne NG machines that the drivers work with.

Some bug fixes were done re issues I ran into with a Sam460ex
that solver crashed etc.

Did not observer what I would call a GPU overload as you did with the bug fixed version that I have been testing.
The audio/video sync and audio pop and crackle are the issues for me . I downloaded the BluFlame video with a Windows pc so the actual video specs maybe different.
No problem playing of hard drive. jus sync and crccle and po audio issues .

The general sync and crackle and pop don't happen with the Radeon RX which I have switched back to to verify.

Sorry, I was speaking for my X1000. Thanks for testing on Sam460 since for them, it would be great to be able to play 720p videos without any trouble.

Yes, I posted a link mentionning the GPU capababilities. For the moment, the driver can decode 720p (not too heavy one) videos. Hans explained thinges here : https://www.amigans.net/modules/newbb/ ... id=134281#forumpost134281

Hopefully the Sam460 issues will shed light on where the problems may be .

CPU usage was no more than 17% so something strange is up .
