SW is: - Enhancer 2.2 installed - OS4feup2 (including hotfix) - Dhewm3 1.5.2 beta 1 EGL_wrap AmigaOS4.1305 - Prefs/Power: High (always done in my startup script)
I booted up Doom3 and reset all settings, saved and performed a cold reboot.
On startup I did nothing but navigate to Doom3 and ran it. On the first screen available I opened up the command window and followed the instructions for post #138 in this thread.
The default settings mean that I have windowed mode 640,480. Low Quality, High Quality Special Effects: Yes, Enable Shadows: No, Enable Specular: Yes, Eanble Bump Maps: Yes, Vertical Sync: Yes, Antialiasing: 2X.
Results: 2148 FRAMES RENDERED IN 120.7 SECONDS = 17.8 FPS.
Notes: CPU utilisation is 100%, GFX utilisation is around 22% throughout running Doom3.

I am just wondering if this is expected, or if I am missing something. I am not for a second suggesting that I am disappointed! I just want to make sure that everything is up-to-date.
Regards.

If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear. George Orwell.
First of all I just want to clarify that I do not test Doom 3.... that said...
One thing you did not list is what your Power setting is for your GPU?
If you go into Prefs and open the Power Management, make sure your GPU is set to High Power. I picked that little trick up from one of those Star Wars Jedi Outcast / Jedi Academy threads.
New version betatest 5 is on your link, download now !!!
News on this version:
Big work on glsl renderer (W.I.P) 3 renderers working now : Arb simple renderer opengl without spécials effects Arb2 use native arb2 shaders with all effects Glsl use modified glsl shaders with all effects Now by default use gamma in shader Brightness working on direct renderer with gamma in shader mode active Patch lights on shaders for speedup engine Patch internal image loader Egl_wrap for speedup convertion rgb -> rgba
Please replace your doom3.cfg and shaders dirs by my all datas on this release (on doom3-configs)
Now on glsl renderer on fullHD with all effects 26 fps
I continue to working on shaders and EGL_wrap (now on static)
@Huno Tested new version, i can say that this GLSL new renderer bring indeed some speed up. Especially in those "big full of objects scenes" i got +3-4 fps more now.
With ARB2 renderer i do have right at begining maximum 10 fps, with GLSL renderer at the same place i do have 12-13 fps. And yes, timedemo instead of 20 giving 26 now. Step by step we will have stable 30, and then that will be good enough :)
But what i noticed, that GLSL rendering and ARB2 rendering a bit different? GLSL one for sure darker. But maybe that the effect of working "brighness" with the GLSL renderer, and non working bright in the arb2 renderer ? If so, that can explain why GLSL one darker : in menu i have it set pretty low by default :)
But also, noticed some bug (?) with shadows: when you come to the first door in the first level, the shadow from it are "triangled", and disappeared by big triangle. Not sure what way is correct one. The same "triangles" i can see from the dropped shadow by this big part of station close to the wall, right under it shadow looks like 3 big triangles.
But in general, this really start to be better and better. If only possible to made this timedemo test be around 50 in stead of current 26, i am sure it will be fully playable then.
Do you think it possible to improve speed twice, by all the micro optimisation in shaders and such ?
Yes the glsl version will be slightly darker and indeed having modified some parts of the shaders there may still be small problems with triangle type rendering, sorry I haven't finished yet. As for getting 50 fps... in the current state there is a light problem that I can't isolate on amigaos4 (my engine under Windows runs wonderfully). The lights effects drop the engine from 20fps which is huge so to answer your question 30fps will be achievable and if we find that problem with the lights well… yes for 50fps
Like you said, we're moving in the right direction.
Thanks for the update. Works great and is like kas1e wrote faster.
At all one more question: When the game has finished, can you continue to work in the system? I have to restart the computer, it freezes completely. But that was already the case with the previous updates. This is on an X1000.
Here on my X5000 and my X1000 it exits fine and I continue to work on my system with no issues. Moreover during my development phases on my X5000 I quit and restart the game a good number of times and always without blocking the system
@TiredOFLife When i tested new update yesterday, i start/quit from a game for about 10 times i think (testing different renderers, different options, etc ,etc). No crash, all fine.
Do you use latest drivers of course ? I mean ogles2 3.3 and warp3dnova 5.16 ? Also if it RadeonHD 3.7 or 5.12 must be, if radeonrx , then 2.11
Okay, all fine now. Seems there is a problem with an Programm that starts with my wbstartup. When i remove all programms it works. So not a problem of Dheewm3 at all :).
Hi Huno, thanks for the update. Just tested it with your config files. It feels faster and the sound is more synchronous. so on my sam 460cr with the radeon rx560 i get 3-5 fps in the game. it keeps getting better, thanks
