Strange jittering sound when switching from Workbench to AmiCygnix
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hello,
I have this strange sound jittering of TuneNet playing MP3 music when switching from Workbench screen to AmiCygnix screen.
Here is a video to show what is happening:

If I stop the song and press play again, it plays normal again, but as soon as I switch to the AmiCygnix screen, the replay starts to jitter again.

It doesn't happen when I scroll the screens.

Does it have something to do with interrupts of the screens?

Is there a way to fix this jittering, or I just shall try to avoid it by scrolling down the AmiCygnix screen, then up as soon as I press play on TuneNet?

P.S. It doesn't happen when I switch from AmiCygnix to Workbench screen. Only when I switch from Workbench to AmiCygnix screen as shown in the video.

Just tested with AmigaAMP 3.33 and I switch without any issues. No jittering happens. Seems the problem is in TuneNet.

Tried it here and I have no problems.

By default the AmiCygnix desktop launches an sound server. You could try to disable it by setting an environment variable this way:

setenv SAVE Cygnix/CYGNIX_LAUNCH_SOUND_SERVER 0

You have to make a reset afterwards.

But I'm afraid, that the display driver could be the reason for this. You could try to use the display driver "picasso96clonewb". You will have wrong colours with this driver, but maybe no jittering.
If this is the case, I have no solution for this.
