2023 - April - M.A.C.E. - Ended

Hello everyone,

Welcome to a new competition here at Amigans.net!

During April we'll be playing M.A.C.E. by Entwickler-X.

M.A.C.E. is a classic space shoot 'em up, inspired by the legendary Amiga games of this genre. Handdrawn 2D graphics in HD resolutions, parallax scrolling, explosion effects and optimized games mechanics, combined with the proven gameplay are transporting the "Spirit of Amiga" in today's Age.

Requirements are as follows:

AmigaOS 4.1 compatible computer with the latest updates, compositing capable graphics card (Radeon + Radeon HD), 400 MB free disk space

This is a commercial game, so it is not free to download. It can be purchased, for example, from Alinea in Germany here:

The goal of the contest is to score as many points as possible. We play on Normal mode. When you are Game Over, you'll need to start over again.

My first score for this competition :) not very well, but we have whole month for practice :D

My best score so far : 37664 (I won't post a grab since I'm pretty sure others will do better).

M.A.C.E. is one of the most technically advanced game for AmigaOS 4.1. Graphics are superb (transparency effects are great) and music is really nice.

BUT if you want to fully enjoy the game, play it in easy mode. In normal mode, the game is not very well balanced: too few weapons or health bonuses whereas ennemies are way too powerful (even if you manage ta have increased you weapon to the maximum).

With some luck, you could be able to see part 2 of the game in normal mode... and then die.

The few highscores posted at the moment show how difficult the game is in normal mode (maybe with some luck some will achieve a little bit more than 40 000 points but I highly doubt many will go beyond that).
