Booting from Compact Flash
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

A coworker/tech of mine told me about the capability of Compact Flash cards to attach (through an appropriate adapter) to an IDE bus so that a computer can be booted from the compact flash card. Now, I'm sure that someone has already done this on A1's but my question is does this work with ATA and/or SATA as well, or only with IDE?

@Billsey

The only CF to SATA adapters I found on Ebay were quite expensive. You should be able to get a CF to IDE and an IDE to SATA adapter from Ebay for under ?15 including Postage and Packaging.

If you're thinking of using SATA and CF for performance reasons it's probably not necessary, 4 GB card capable of 45MB/sec costs about $110 including P&P. Lower prices equal lower speeds.
