List of compatible Radeon RX 5XX cards for SAM460LE?

Hello all!

I want to buy a Radeon card for my SAM460LE and let's say that the driver support situation is... confusing.

For the older cards, you can see Hans's compatibility list here:

This only goes as far as the Radeon R5/R7/R9 2XX series though. Before I buy my RX550 card, I'd like to make sure the one I'm choosing is actually compatible.

Is there a similar list to the one above, but for the new RX5XX cards?

Also, how do I know whether I should use the PCIe 1x or PCIe 4x slot in my SAM460LE? Is there a chance that I buy a card and it won't work in one of these slots?

Buy a RX560 card (the RX580 is overkill and the RX550 is not that fast).

Put it in the 4x PCIe slot (it won't fit in the 1x BTW).

In my sam460 i use RadeonRX 560: the best one. Hardware video decoding works fine and fast, speed of 3d in whole are ok (at least, for the sam460 as it have issues with cache coherence causing GART being disabled for Sam460, meaning in turn slower speed of 3D).

But anyway, probably 560 version is the best you can get for sam460. See how it in action on my sam460:



But you should know from the beginning, that installing RadeonRX into the sam460 will be a bit of un-friendly : with current Sam's uboot you are unable to see output of UBOOT on RadeonRX : you had to use serial cable + other computer to use UBOOT if you put RadeonRX.

Also, OS4 basic ISO do not have RadeonRX driver in. You buy it separately, then, modify installation ISO in correct order (put RadeonRX driver in kickstart dir, wrote line in kicklayout to load this driver, etc).

Alternatively you can install OS4 with RadeonHD (os4 by default have some limited version of RadeonHD support), then once all ready, buy RadeonRX driver, put in kickstart, change kicklayout , then unplug RadeonHD, put RadeonRX, and then boot from.

Sure, kind of boring, but at least you have to play with which is fun too :)

I was considering getting a 5450 as that one is well known, but they cost twice as much on Amazon as an RX 550/560!!! At least here in Japan, they do. So I'll go with the RX 560, even though it has uBoot issues. As long as boot issues can be sorted out remotely with a serial terminal it's ok.

What I'm concerned with is that if I buy a random card, it will turn out not to work. So I was hoping people might say "I have a Sapphire Radeon RX 560 2 GB" or something like that, so I can be sure I'm buying a good card.

Or is that not a problem and most cards will just work? I usually buy the one that doesn't...

Most cards will just work indeed (this is not true for the RX 580).

They do work but it seems many Amigans have had troubles making their card work (many different cards, lots of noname, on the market).

And BTW those that work are overkill for ou systems (they won't go faster than any RX560).

I have a Yeston RX560.
Works fine with Sam460.

Single slot, low profile and quiet.
