Upgrading from Radeon HD7750 to RX580 on X5000

I am running at 2.5k resolution on my AmigaOne X5K using the stock card that came inside, a Radeon HD7750. I have a Radeon RX580 on its way. Running Enhancer 2.2 so drivers should be OK, I believe.

Am I fairly safe to power down, swap cards, and the X5K boot with some form of video so I can then get into prefs and alter, adjust, as needed?

Will it boot under 1080p or ??

Just don't want to swap cards before I confirm just in case I need to do something on the video prefs 1st.

Before you swap cards, you'll need to get the RadeonRX chip driver from Aeon and put it in your kickstart drawer, and then add the Line: "MODULE Kickstart/RadeomRX.chip" to your Kicklayout file.

Hopefully, someone else can chime in if I've forgotten something.

That Radeon RX driver is part of the Enhancer 2.2 if I am not mistaken. I should already have that, unless I am confused on that.

I see the RadeonRX.chip in my Kickstarter directory so appears to be the case.

I take it a card swap now and she should boot.

Yes, you're right. Sorry about the misdirection. It appears that the RadeonRX.chip IS now part of Enhancer. I got mine far enough back that I had to buy it seperately.

Just definitely double check that your file, named "kicklayout" in that directory, named "kickstart", somewhere contains the line:

Ah ha... yeh mine does not have that!

shouldn't you change monitor driver in devs too? remember i needed to do that when i upgraded. so your gfx card not load old settings, correct me if wrong.

That is why I had asked as I was unsure if I have to do more or if main RX chip is where it belongs, some minimum video happens so I can then set up the new display, much like when installing Amiga OS for the first time, some minimum is in place to see the video card for basic video.

yea..been a while since i done it, don't remember how.

just realize i have 2 480 8gb card laying around. not sure if they work on sam460ex or fit in it because of my soundcard and sata card. if anyone need i can sell those very cheap

When I switch between monitor or between HD and RX card, I do not have to update the monitor file

Make sure that the monitor file uses DDC for the screenmodes. Then the RX driver will be able to calculate applicable clocks frequencies.

I will have to go look but must admit this statement does not ring bells with me, LOL.

Is this some choice/selection in the display screenmode prefs someplace?

Maybe school me a tad about what this DDC for the screenmodes means and where I can confirm this before I get back to my X5K again.

You should have 2 tabs on the screenmode. One says Available modes and the other says monitors.
Check on the monitors.
Make sure the Detect Settings automatically is checked.
