Check mail, Icould read that xml settings file here and created a settingsfile you can copy to your Airscan directory, and hopefully you can use your scanner. But I will make a debugging version to see what is wrong and send you later.

Thank you so much

Another step further

I can now choose and change settings, which are getting saved on exit(?), for my scanner.

But i still cannot scan (preview or normal) because it times out again and gives me a
Quote:

Failed to receive message

The reason for this, i *think*, is, that my printer goes into sleep mode after two hours of inactivity.

It needs to be awoken (maybe that is also the reason why i couldn't read the web page -- although i did wake it manually on the last test)...i could do that manually every time, but...that would be tedious, wouldn't it?

...

Oh, and since i cannot scan anything yet...is there an automatic incrementation on scan names?
Or would i have to rename every page i scan to not overwrite the former?

If not, something like an incremental counter to be added to the file name would be nice (or adding the date and time with filters)

sorry

Strange, my program stores temporary files in "RAM:T/AirScan" folder, can you check if this folder is created. It should be there when you are using the program.

And when you change settings they will be stored on exit. The program will also increment with filenumber for each scan, so it wonΒ΄t overwrite the other files.

Nice

Nope, no file created, but Snoopy tells me
Quote:

02301 : AirScan : FAIL = Open("RAM:T/Airscan/scannerstatus",NEW) = [0x00000000] [32uS]

and i now know why...i don't have a T subir in RAM:

I redirected everything that goes to T: to a hdd partition.

Since you don't write to T:, but rather to the absolute path, it fails.
Seems i need to enhance my redirection to include writes to RAM:T/ then

...

and now the printer wakes up and scans..woohoo

Thanks a lot for the hint

It stops mid scanning, scanner power light blinking

scratch that, readded the scanner and now everything works

This is good news, I will eventually stop using RAM:T as temporary storage. I will send you a new version that creates temporary files in RAM instead, hopefully we got it.

You should be able to search for your scanner as well now, can you check if this works?

Yes, everything works now.
Scanner is found, even without using the IP address, capabilities are read and used correctly.
Scanning (preview and full) works, as does saving to pdf

Thank you very much...can't wait for the print version of your program

I am very relieved that it was a minor issue, reminds me to add some better error handling in my software πŸ‘

You are on my mailing list for testing the printer.device, so enjoy christmas πŸ˜€

I don't know if you take feature requests (and i don't really want to drag you away from airprint) but there are a few things which would make AirScan so much more fun to use

1)
Would/Could you add a tooltype that automatically chooses the first device in the list of known machines (or second or third, given the number)?
like
USE_DEVICE=1 (first entry / 0 for default behaviour / 2 and up for following devices)
If no scanner has been added yet, you could fall back to default

That would save a click and one could immediately start scanning and moreover immediately see the capabilities of the active device.

2)
Another tooltype for a program path that could deal with scanned data (i.e. Multiview) and another one for default behaviour (immediately showing scanned data or not, right after scanning finished)
Or maybe the preview window could be used (then again, it's not it's purpose i think)
Maybe even one for ever data format?

3)
And finally some eye candy
I saw that the printer firmware pages hold (at least my printer does) a 128x128 pixel image of the printer itself.
Could that be polled, on adding the printer/scanner, and displayed above the scanner list window right beside brightness, compression, contrast, sharpen? (There is so much blank space there)

Thank you very much for all the help so far

1) When adding scanner the first time, the last version selects the scanners default values, and if you change these they get saved on exit. Are you thinking to be able to save several preselected settings for the same scanner?

2) Yes I can add a tooltype for what program to open when scan is done.

3) yes I can add that feature.

Also working on ssl support now so that all can be able to use it, some scanners only supports ssl.

All progress we do on Airscan will also benefit on airprint, so this time spent is well worth the effort and time πŸ˜€

1) No, what i meant was to immediately choose a printer/scanner on start of the program.

So, start the program and the first scanner in the list get chosen and be "active" (with all it's setting loaded, ready to start scanning)

Someone *might* have more than one scanner/printer installed, so the list *could* grow and the tooltype could be used to choose one of the other printer/scanner in thae list on starting the program.

Right now, if i start the program, the list is there, the scanner is there, but i have to still click on it to choose/activate it so it gets usable.

2) Awesome

3) Awesome

Since I can't program, but would like to help with feedback or tests, I simply created a few logos for AirScan and AirPrint.
I also reworked the AirScan buttons a little to make them look a little sharper. I also changed the preview of AirScan a little.
I just spiced it up a bit to suit my taste.
If you like it, feel free to use it.
Thank you for this great program and I'm looking forward to AirPrint

I would gladly help as a beta tester.
Airscan works really well with my Canon TS8350.
I guess it's compatible with AirPrint too.

p.s.: until a month ago I could only print with Linux Mint. Windows 10 recognizes the printer but the data is sent endlessly and I have never been able to print anything.
After the latest Linux Mint update, I also have the same problems on Linux as on Windows.
So if I can print with AmigaOS, it would be a nice revenge against Windows and Linux.
