Many thanks to whoever fixed AmiUpdate.

Today I successfully updated AmiSSL and IBrowse 2.5 using AmiUpate.

Thanks so much,

Yes, Amiupdate is back up. Just change the server to amiupdate.net.

Thanks for getting this back up.

So people want to start a fund to host Amiupdate somewhere else?

No-one ever asked me if I needed money to host it, I did it off my own back with my own money, let alone the amount of time spent developing it. Luckily I had some help years ago, but now it's down to me.

When it goes down, through no fault of mine, all of a sudden the pitch-forks are out and I'm enemy number one...

Your getting something for nothing here, be thankful for what you get, if anything.

I'm not under contract to supply any service here, and if that stops, so be it. It's back now, at the original location, as it always was.

It's out of my control, and I'm slowly working my way back to restoring all the original services. Unfortunately I have to go to work to pay my bills, including hosting this service. If this doesn't fit in with your schedule, then I apologise, there's only so much I can do.

Simon

@Rigo Would be happy to chip in. Do you have a patreon/PayPal or anything like that?

Also, any updates to the publicly available CodeBench or a way to at least get the newest you compiled?

Second that. I'd be in for a contribution too. Even if small. And Thank you. Let's hope OS4 Updates will be coming too.

I read again users' comments and I haven't seen anyone getting pitch-forks out, pointing you as the enemy. I think that people find your software useful and tried to offer their help.

Furthermore, I am glad you sorted it out, and as others said, I would like to help in any way to get this weight out of your shoulders. I know the pain, as I maintain and host multiple Amiga websites, like this forum.

... what walkero said

And I really think most people were just concerned about not knowing what was going on, because we are all relying on AmiUpdate to keep our systems updated. So at some point they (we) naturally started to consider what could be done if the AmiUpdate server *didn't* come back up (and in fact also wondering if anything had happened to you!).

So maybe if you had posted a few more status updates along the way?

And of course, I'm also ready to chip in.

Best regards,

Niels

I had no idea what is the story behind the Amiupdate. I always thought it had something to do with the AmigaKit. I will gladly chip in too; pay-pal, coffee, patreon, wherever you decide, if you do.

Thanks for doing this for community!

Offtopic from this thread, but the search engine have seen it´s last days..

I get a Grim Reaper with the new version the first time I start it, missing ScummVM.ini

Reset and restart ScummVM and I got a (I guess self saved)ScummVM.ini and everything works!

Thanks for the update!

I get random crashes (seldomly) when i first start ScummVM myself, but i can't find the cause.
It seems to be related to if one has opened another program beforehand, e.g. Odyssey...then i can nearly always trigger an ISI.

If one starts ScummVM right after bootup, even without an .ini file, everything works.
I'd love to point to something, but alas, my coding skills are nigh zero

Don't ask me why, no usable debugger means i'm even more at loss (not that i could do anything about it anyway even if i' dknew the cause)

Maybe something like ScummVM searching for an .ini
and if not present, creates one while it still search and crash

This give me Deja Vu feelings.

Take me to the ScummVM thread since the search engine will not.
