Only the Workbench screen is supported at the moment for TuneNet. This will change.

@Raziel,

Not sure, we'll find out when the preview is out.

Cheers,
Bean.

Hi @bean

The upcoming release now gives you the option to use either Device or Music unit. So if you use the Device mode other apps can play at the same time.

OMG, UGH, and Gah ! Nice!

Hi,

Using the AHI Music Unit (which TuneNet has used since day 1) will block other apps that try to use AHI Device Mode. The upcoming release now gives you the option to use either Device or Music unit. So if you use the Device mode other apps can play at the same time..

stupid question from my side... but why supporting the "music unit" at all if it blocks other applications? this does not sound very multitasking or amiga like at all

thanks and
byebye...

If i understand it correctly it's because "Music Unit" is
the default when one installs AHI.

You only get the "Unit0: something" if you install the
device driver which is (as of now) a third party add-on

Please correct me if i'm wrong

No real reason. I'd already dabbled around with the Music Unit before I wrote TuneNet and I hardly ever play sound from more than one app at a time, so never really thought about it.

The Music Unit is usually used when you want total control of the Audio and the best quality available. It's mostly used in audio creation apps, such as Audio Evolution.

I use TuneNet with the device mode now BTW.

Cheers,
Bean.

P.S. The preview will be released at the end of next week.

The device modes are part of the standard AHI install. They are configurable under the AHI preferences and let you define the max number of channels, volume scaling, mode to use etc, etc.. These settings are then used system wide.

The Music Unit can be set to supply a default audio mode, but because the application using the Music Unit has full control the mode used can be changed by the application.

Bean.

You can tell the Music unit to use Unit 0 instead, it's just a case of installing device.audio from the full AHI package. That's what I do, and all apps happily share the audio with that selected (even Tunenet!)

You do get Unit 0-3 anyway, but this redirects the Music unit, if that makes sense.
