Free 1st Person Shooter for AmigaOne X5K with OS 4.1

I have not played a 1st person shooter on ANY system for ages.

Why not try on my AmigaOne X5K running Amiga OS 4.1

I don't have any joysticks for AmigaOne as I am not an avid gamer on this system so needs to use Keyboard and Mouse.

Something that does not cost to test the waters would be nice.

Thanks for the tips.

Something like a 3D Wolfenstein would be cool but not idea if that is out there.

Any links to grab them would be great.

Thnx

TJ

I recommend Night of the Zombies

It's a fun game, and its free.

You can try old/genuine DOOM

http://www.os4depot.net/share/game/fps/chocolate-doom.lha
Here is the executable.

then you need the data (WAD) file, from here the shareware version:
https://archive.org/details/DoomsharewareEpisode

and you will get a bunch of other .ZIPs, just unarchive "DoomV1.9sw1995idSoftwareInc.action.zip" and copy DOOM1.WAD inside you chocolate-doom drawer.

If it doesn't need to be more advanced than Wolf3D, why not try Breathless and Alien Breed 3D 1 and 2? Download from whdownload.com, unarchive, coubleclick and play.

The Amiga got some classics in this genre too and if you haven't checked them out you really should!

EUAE/WHDLOAD is not the correct way run this games, sure X5000 is pretty fast, I really like to see more work on making Alien Bread 3D more system-friendly, its already halfway there.

I think when it comes to Doom, Woof is currently the best choice, it offers many additional features including multiplayer support. You can find it on Os4Depot.

The installation is the same as you already described.

It also runs great on my NG machine. See for yourself

I've been playing them under MOS on a powermac so should be playable on the X5000. Weird thing though, Breathless for example run supersmooth if launched on an AOS 3.2 installation (whdload) but a lot less so if run from MOS (think it's using an AOS 3.1 installation then).

I quite like The Rise of the Triad, ported to OS4 by Huno. Runs great on my X5000.

EDIT: The full version is now going for only 1.69 EUR on GOG; that's what I call a steal for such a fine game!

The game is pretty cool. Can the game also be run in windowed mode or in a higher resolution like 640x480?

My SamsungTV does not support 640x480 resolutions

It can run in a window, or in fullscreen at a resolution of 800x600. You just need to manually edit the config file (text) in the .rott directory. There's a section for the screen resolution.

Return To Castle Wolfenstein is a great first person shooter. Ported by HunoPPC.

You will need to buy the game from something like GOG and copy the data files over to your AmigaONE X5000.
