@Mikey_C Would love to show up! Though I'm guessing the UK in the subject and the price in ? means I'll have to miss it. (last time I went to UK it cost me US$600 for the plane trim, in '97) Would there be a .avi or something for download?

@kvasir You can get flights from Los Angeles (which I guess is even further away?) for around ?180 now - but that's partly because stearling is so strong.. perhaps a little too strong. Interest rates are set to sky rocket here.. hold onto your house!

@Mikey_C
I'm up for learning C. I started a while ago - Karlos around 3 years ago began to teach me over Messenger, but he became really busy - then I became really busy etc.. etc..
I've become quite good at vbscript - had to teach myself that for work. Sort of undertstand a bit of PHP, and last night downloaded Free Pascal for shits and giggles. Actually Free Pascal is bloody easy - some things bug me, as I find it very strict, but what I'm thinking is - there is a free pascal port to OS 4, so even I dont get C, hopefully I'll come away with an understanding of the Amiga OS 4 API which I can apply Free Pascal too.
Of course, in any event it'll be a laugh - get to hang out with a load of delinquents for the day. There will no doubt be beer available too?

@Mikey_C I have holiday booked with work from 9th to 20th July, but don't mind having to book more if it is later in the month or in August.

@Jurassicc Oh Gosh! I had forgotten all about this! Sorry everyone. Guess we'll have to see if Chris Y is still up for this. If you are Chris, let me know. Ta.@ALL I know it has been a looong time since this issue was discussed and a lot of negativity has set in. Therefore, could I please ask those who expressed an interest previously to once more say so again? I will need to see if the numbers stack up, providing of course, Chris Y says yes Please note, this will involve travelling, maybe a weekend, or similar and money being spent. So, please say yes if you are 100% up for it. Mikey C

@Mikey_C Erm, I guess so. I had forgotten so I haven't done anything with it. If it's an entire weekend I'd rather it was more than just me though. Chris

@Mikey_C Have you considered doing a video of this. Donations could be made for the download, to help off set the cost of hiring out a venue.

@Rigo That's very kind of you Rigo, Between you and Chris I am sure that those who attend will come away with some useful inkling on the basics of Amiga programming. Thank you.

I could provide free facilities at the school I work in at Stratford-upon-Avon for a Saturday event. This would include 2 full IT suites with data projectors, broadband etc allowing internet video/irc links to be easily set up. There would be plenty of space/power to set up visitors' Amigas. Onsite refreshments would be hot/cold drinks and snacks. There are 2 very good pubs next door to the school. Folk attending the event could even persuade their other halves to spend a day seeing the sites in Stratford and then meet up for a meal later on? There are reasonable rail and road links into Stratford, providing we don't get the same amount of rain as we did in the Summer...

@OldAmigan
Added you on the
new forum thread There's no point in running two threads over the same topic. therefore I am locking this one as its older.
