Hello,

I have X5000 and know OS4.1 limitations and etc. However looking for additional Amiga NG.

My question is, what is honest oppinion of existing A1222 owners if money is not an object?

Thank you

I don't own one, I don't like the fact that some software needs to be recompiled to work, or that so much extra effort and time had to be invested to create the FPU emulator.

But if money is not an issue, I would buy one. Why? Because I think Trevor is a genuinely good person. Little turned out to be as as planned with the a1222 but contrary to some figures in the forums who know everything and how everything could be done better, no one does.
But Trevor took the risk. Matthew Lehman from AmigaKit should work at his customer support skills but thanks to him too for sticking.
There will not be a limitless supply of a1222 if you can get one, we are in the boat together. Amiga is stubborn and don't wants to die! United we stand!

Every NG Amiga is a unique computer and the A1222+ is even more unique thanks to its obscure ( sorry, embedded signal processing ) processor.
My reason for buying it was similar to Tuvok's - to support Trevor and the production of NG Amigas. In addition to that, curiosity.

And it appeared that the A1222+ has one more advantage for me - since a lot of powerpc code does not work optimally on SPE and I like to do benchmarks, after more than twenty years I wrote something in C again.

So for me it's definitive a plus.

AmigaOS4: Micro A1-C, AmigaOne XE, Pegasos II, Sam440ep, Sam440ep-flex, AmigaOne X1000

I had the A1222 in operation myself and I really liked it as a complete system. Most things worked really well, but of course there were also limitations. But what I can say is that the hardware worked well.

Booting, including the A1222 boot animation, was very fast, as was the read and write speed of the SSD. The USB support was also very good in my opinion. All of the AmigaOs4.1 components felt very smooth to use and ran quickly.

However, FPU intensive programs/games had problems on the A1222 and there are also some incompatibilities with some programs and games that are not SPE optimized. However, everything that is and has been SPE optimized runs really well. Of course, a lot of work has to be done to make this possible, but it shows how strong SPE optimized software can be.

If the price for this hardware wasn't so high, it would be the perfect entry-level solution.
