Recompiling MiniGL 68k ?
Not too shy to talk

Hello

I am currently working on Wazp3D for Maggie/Vampire (BlitzQuake works 95 %)
But at some point we will need to recompile MiniGL to optimize it for Vampire too

So does someone ever recompiled MiniGL 68k ?
What compiler ?
What sources ?
Does using the last sources a good idea if they are only an adaptation to Warp3D V5 for NG ?

Thanks

I did compile minigl for aros x86 10 or more years ago, and it was almost without changes and i use it for few minigl ports. It was casual gcc. I.e if you have warp3d includes and working w3d, that all matter of few little changes in makefile and maybe very little in sources to compile for 68k.

But i werent allowed to release aros build of minigl separately: license allow amugaos only, and on intiitionbase.com when it was alive i had some hot discussion when were pointed on. So be sure all ok there before jumping on

I refer you to

https://www.hyperion-entertainment.com ... ranches/updates-kc/README

There you can see what was added in V2 and if it can enhance your port.

An interesting question might be VBOs. Appearently they (I did not know this myselves) in V2 only are added as "Fake VBOs" (meaning they still run on system memory). No idea if your hardware would have support for the HW requirements for VBOs anyways.

You also see in this list sometimes comments on the used compilers, and what bugs were fixed.

Easier to read stuff about new features in V2 are here:

https://hdrlab.org.nz/projects/amiga-os-4-projects/minigl/

I think this

https://www.hyperion-entertainment.com ... niGL/branches/updates-kc/

should be the recent code.

As to the "AmigaOS" requirement and legal stuff I cannot say much .

It's in https://www.hyperion-entertainment.com ... es/updates-kc/License.txt
Quote:
1. MiniGL may only be compiled for/incorporated in/linked with code running on
AmigaOS running on Amiga branded or Amiga licensed hardware. This only applies to MiniGL, you are free to port an
application using MiniGL to another OpenGL implementation on other
platforms.
[...]
Other use will require a special license. Contact the authors for details.
Using it on other OSes like AROS or MorphOS, hardware like Pegasos2 (even when running AmigaOS 4.x on it), Vampire, A600GS, etc., as well as on emulation like UAE, Fellow or QEmu, is obviously not allowed without first getting a special licence from the Friedens.

@joerg

I know that it is in there i meant with my remark
that i cannot give any comment on the license
part of it and only comment on the technicalities.
