GemRB SDL Mixer issue

If I try to run the GemRB to play Baldur's Gate, I receive an error about a missing library even it exists.

I also tried to creare a link named "libSDL_mixer-1.2.so" but the error is reported anyway.




Sometimes, even with this message, GemRB starts, sometimes OS4 hangs and a reboot is needed.

Probably wrong version.

Note i am working on a new version which does
not have this problem. Release somewhen in
March. Based on 0.8.8.

It worked fine on SAM440, and it works on X5000.

I am reporting this issue on SAM460LE, I can help you with testing if needed.

The problem is really old port needs exactly specific
versions of some so libs (sdl, openal etc) and some it needs
are old version. About possible betatest contact me

For my version it copies the so libs it needs in exact version
it needs to local directory during installation.

Based on the screenshot, the needed file doesn't seem to exist in your SOBJS:

It is looking for libSDL2_mixer-1.2.so but you have
libSDL2_mixer-1.2.so.12
libSDL2_mixer.so

It is probably not just the filename. But it really needs the 1.2 version.

Please note it is looking for "libSDL_mixer-1.2.so" not for "libSDL2_mixer-1.2.so".

I create the link named libSDL_mixer-1.2.so and the issue still occurs.

Later I would like to try to install the sdl2mixer and will perform a new test.

Use snoopy. Most probably it needs other libraries too. Keep in mind that any .so file could use other .so files. Use readelf or snoopy to see which files are needed.

Having never run this before, I tried to download and run on a clean install. These are the os4depot files that had .so files I needed to get gemrb to the point of looking for the game files. Some .so files also needed renaming to match the file being looked for.


I also needed to get SDL.lha, and adtools.lha just for libssp.so.

If some of these .so files were not installed then it came up with an error for libSDL_mixer-1.2.so even though that was installed as part of SDL.lha.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will try in the next days.

Do you think the program is trying to open libSDL2_mixer-1.2.so but the message is wrong?

You have to download all of them otherwise elf.library will give you that message even if one of the dependencies is missing

EDIT: ok I found it, snoopy. I will try it as I used snoopdos and it was not able to trace these calls.

sorry it was a spelling error - I had the correct file in my list (libsdl_mixer.lha)

Note i expect to release my new port of GemRB (0.8.8 based, and also with
a full installer taking care of installation of datafiles, config files and so libs) in
a few weeks.
