Remote Desktop client for AmigaOS 4
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

Hi to all, yesterday I tried to connect my Sam440ep to my laptop (windows 7 professional) using the remote desktop protocol. I remember that it was possible to do so but for some unknown reason, it doens't work anymore.. So browsing the web I discovered this project and I would like to know if it would be possible to port it under Amiga os4..

@nubechecorre
The registered version of RDesktop should work with Windows 7 Pro, the Demo versions only support Windows XP Pro, NT and 2000/2003.

There is a beta version which works with Windows 10 and 11 Pro as well http://www.hd-zone.com/index.html but AFAIK m68k only (works on AmigaOS 4.x as well), no AmigaOS 4.x/PPC port yet. You'll have to contact Darren to get it.

the beta veresion jörg mentioned works nice - also with win11.
unfortunately it is from 2021 and is currently not developemd further.

i have one problem with it. it *seems* that you cannot login with a "non-local user account", aka a windows use account. i can see all users on our family pc when trying to log in - except mine. which is the only microsoft account.
using rdp from e.g. my smartphone works fine in that aspect. so it is not a general problem of my win machine.

would be nice to see it "finished" and the last problems fixed.

regards...

I just got this setup tonight and it works very well. I had tried to setit up in the past using the version that came with my system, which unfortunately only supported Windows 7. But when I read about the newer version, I headed over to give it a try.

After some inital problems, Darren helped me to get it going and I am very happy with it. Some lag to it at times, but other than that I can pretty much get everything done though my Amiga and anything I need to use in WIndows I can have access to rather easily through the remote desktop. Very convenient especially with the cut and paste between the systems.

I hope he contiunes to support the program and maybe optimizes for OS4. ANyway I am loving it right now.

And Darren is very helpful. I recommend every go make him a donation and get the newer version. It is well worth it and then some.

@livebyfaith74

are you using a microsoft account on your windows machine?
windows 11?
or only a local user account?

i think the latest beta version (v1.5.0? - not sure) does not work with microsoft account user.
at least here i only see the local users.

I am using my Microsoft account, but I am only on Windows 10.

I am using it through the shell and telling it which user to use. So I don't see any options , but that would be interesting to find out if it works with multiple accounts.

Audio works too. I was even playing some turn based Steam games on my X5000! Not quite fast enough though to playing things that need full movement.

Although Darren said he uses it to view youtube. My connection isn't fast enough for that, so maybe if improved my connection I could playing some more demanding games over it.
