How to enable Line Input and Mic Input in OS4?

As the title says, I'm trying to enable the the Line In and Mic Input on my A1222P. I took a look at Sound preferences and there are settings there but I didn't see anything that enabled them. I know the lines are working because I can use them with the AHI Record program. Unfortunately, it's a bit cumbersome to use. Is there a preference program or a simple program that will enable them?

In the Prefs/AHI settings, "Options" section on the right - the "Input" and "Output" sliders don't work for you?

I'm guessing he's probably using the Enhancer prefs replacement.

Best regards,

This is on an A1222P which uses enhancer by default when setup from the restore USB stick shipped with it. That means I'm using the sound preferences.

Should I expect that if I set the input slider in sound preferences, to Line In, that I should be able to hear sound if I connect it to the 3.5mm output jack of my cell phone without having to do anything else? If yes, then something isn't working and I'll report a bug.

Just to note, I get no sound if I set it to mic input or mic and line in setting. I do get sound through those ports if I use the AHI Record program.

I don't see the AHI preferences program in the preferences drawer so I can't try using that, unless I install it from somewhere else.

Your inputs are appreciated.

Sorry. Double post deleted. After hitting the submitt button the first time I received a warning in red lettering above my post that said it had timed out and to copy the content and try again. When I hit submit again I saw it had posted the first on and the second one.

I don't think AHI works that way. The 'Input' setting controls what a program (like the AHI Recorder) will see if it reads from AHI. The 'Output' setting controls where the sound goes when a program writes to AHI. There's no automatic connection between the two; you'd need to create a program that continually reads from the input and writes to the output.

That said, have you tried the 'Monitor' control? The AHI docs are rather vague on what this control does, but suggest that it might provide a connection between the input and the output directly on the sound card/chip, without having to go through AHI (perhaps without even being digitized). This would depend on the chip/driver supporting this functionality.
