NVMe support for Sam460 Uboot - how about X5000?!
Just popping in
Just popping in

See User information
It was just announced that the newest UBoot update for Sam460-line includes support for NVMe SSDs (https://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=news&id=163).

How about X5000? Will A-Eon offer the same improvement for X5000 UBoot?

Would be nice to have any public update to the X5000 UBoot, for that matter.

It's a great enhancement and it's free for both 460ex and 440ep platforms.
In these days seems an incredible thing..

Yeah a PUBLIC X5000 firmware update announced and released by A-EON
to the people who bought cards/computers and supported A-EON wouldn't hurt.

2 more weeks. I'm all good.

5 weeks today since I ordered my X5000/40, did I get it yet? NO!

Edit: Recieved the X5000/40 today :) , 5 weeks and 5 days.

As I know, there are some problem with X1000 firmware sources.
But of course, it will be nice.

X5000 and A1222+ sources are i A-Eon ownership, so there changes are possible.
For A1222+ have no sense NVME or SATA2 3132 support. But some still can be done:
- enable Rank ( Chip select ) interleaving for DDR3 which speeds a little RAM access
- upgrade integrated display ( DIU ) support: allocate more VRAM and enable it together with PCIe graphics card ( now is disabled if card is inserted ). That way it can be used for dualboot AmigaOS + RX card and Linux + DIU.

So big thanks to ACube - imagine my little Sam460ep with NVME!

@all
Adding NVMe support to the X5000 & A1222 would probably be easier then the X1000, because they use UBoot (just like the Sam4x0).

The X1000 uses CFE, and I'm not aware of any NVMe code for CFE.

Neither the X5K/A1222 U-boot or X1000 CFE code is available publicly, which is a shame. Given where CFE is typically used, I doubt Broadcom or any of their customers would be adding NVMe support.

Of course if A-EON would like to make the source available, maybe someone here could play with it? Hintedy hint hint....
