Just a quick post to share that I’ve donated a slightly larger amount than usual to HunoPPC via his Ko-fi page (
https://ko-fi.com/hunoppc), to help motivate him to keep going with SPE-optimized software for our machines.
His recent SPE version of WipeOut reportedly sold only less than a handful of copies, even after months of work. That really highlights how few we are, and how crucial it is to show support for developers who are still putting time into making the most out of our hardware.
After hearing that Huno is looking into a DarkPlaces (Quake 1) port with SPE support, I felt this might be the last real opportunity to see a solid, SPE-optimized 3D FPS on the A1222 from him. There are no guarantees it will be finished or released, but I think it’s worth encouraging that kind of effort.
If you also want to see more advanced 3D titles truly take advantage of the A1222, I encourage you to support him on Ko-fi. Even just 5 euros can help keep motivation alive. And if you do donate, consider leaving a note saying it’s for “SPE motivation” so he knows there’s still interest out there.
Because honestly, if we don’t support this kind of work now, we may not get another chance.
So, are you an A1222 owner? Instead of reaching for that next cola or coffee, consider sending a small donation HunoPPC’s way. A few euros might get us the optimized 3D games we've been hoping for. Way better than the temporary boost from that caffeine fix. Let’s show we’re still here and still care.
