OS 4.0 Final with update4 HELP
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

See User information
Hi
Last days I have been trying to boot Final+Update4 and
the results aren't clear yet.
I edited the kicklayout and know I have both systems
edited and copied the kickstart files of both to update4 partition.
I have Final on DH0 and Update4 on DH1.
I added the BootDevice command on both kickstart directories and the result is that when I try to boot update4 it loads the kickstart modules and stops booting after this.
I have set BootDevice in Kickstart/Final directory as DH0
and on Update4 as DH1.
What I am missing?
Is it better to copy both systems to one partition and try to boot from the same partition?
Really need help.

If you install the final update from cd, why have you " updated " it with the 4th update ( it is not an upgrade but a downgrade.. ) ?

My advice is to make a fresh and clean install of amiga os 4.0 final + july update..

Then if you wish to try to run warp3d games you can try to install the previous version of powerpc.library and if you wish to use AmigaInput ( that is a little buggy ) you can copy it from update 4..

For MAME i have a micro with 256 MB of ram and it run at full speed.. keep in mind that this version of MAME is slower than MAME32 because this is done using the sdl and the MAME itself is huge..

I could suggest you to wait and see if someone port a version non-sdl..

The SLB will always load the KickLayout file from the
partition with the highest boot priority.

By default OS4 boots from the partition with the highest
boot priority.

bootmenu supports specifying a different boot partition
for WB. The first published version of bootmenu which has
this feature was the version on the OS4Final CD.

You should not use the upd4 kickstart with the final WB
or the final kickstart with the upd4 WB.

Conclusion: The partition with the highest boot priority
needs both kickstarts and the upd4 WB and the BootDevice
entry for final or it cant work.

I have update4 with higher priority than Final and I only can boot Final for now.
I don't know what to do to boot update4 and as I say I have
the BootDevice script on update4 Kicstart setted to DH1 and on Final Kickstart as DH0.
Any suggestions?

All we know yet about your problem is that after loading
the update4 kickstart you see no update4 WB. Please verify
that bootmenu shows the update4 WB partition as default
boot partition, that booting from there without S-S works,
that typing

Set Echo ON
Execute S/Startup-Sequence

after booting without S-S hangs and tell us where it hangs.
You also have the option to capture a serial debug log.

May I edit BootDevice or BootMenu, kmod.
BootMenu doesn't show any update4 WB partition.
What can I do?

Read Documentation/Kickstart/bootmenu.doc on the OS4Final CD.

For a working dual boot config, you need to edit at least
the KickLayout file and one BootDevice file.

When your update4 WB partition is not shown in bootmenu
but its the bootable partition with the highest boot priority
from where Kickstart/KickLayout and the kickstart modules
are loaded, my best guess is that you created a kickstart
configuration which is missing something really important,
e.g. a driver for your harddisk or the filesystem for your
harddisk. Compare the config with the original from the
update4 kicklayout file.

It is the same cause I only joined Final with update kicklayouts so taht's not the problem I think.
