"Soldiers of Fortune" for Amiga?
Quite a regular

See User information
Browsing through the game manuals and found an A4 in Heretic II box with the following title:

Hyperion signs "Soldiers of Fortune" for Amiga and Mac

Neuss, Germany, 11 June 2000...

...
...
"Soldiers of Fortune" will be published by Titan Computer and is slated for release in Q4 of 2000. Requirements to be announced.
...
...

Just wondering what happened with this port...

I have seen so many announcements of games for the Amiga
over the time, many of them without being publicated.
In my opinion Hyperion is one of the largest Amiga games
company and with the loyalty it have been putted on the Amiga I think it will do it not only these ports also
some more games for the Amiga comunity.

Let's wait until the Amiga/Hyperion trial comes to and end
and with the SAM 440 and other hardware like the new Amigas from ACK/AmigaInc the user base may grow so let's think
time will tell us Soldier of Fortune is going to be released or like other projects goes directly to the
oblivion in our sometimes overheated minds with these new announcements.

I think that a lot of games are ready for amiga os 4.0 but until you haven' t an hardware where to run games and first of all an operating system is unusable to publish games..don' t ?

Hasn't "Titan" cancelled all OS4 ports/projects back then?

Titan was only the publisher. Acube will presumably act as the publisher for Hyperion's ports in the future.

Maybe if we pester Richard Drummond he'll get around to finishing Gorky 17 sometime soon, I don't think there's anything else in the pipeline at the moment.

O_O

Hold on a sec ... Richard Drummond?

TEH Richard Drummond?

Mr. eUAE himself???

Why didn't anyone tell me that he is the force behind
Gorky17? I mean, i would've mailed him to death until now!!!

Crap, now it looks like i'll never get a copy of that game
(evilrich is very much taken with eUAE, UAE implementation
in AROS and the projects hes doing for OS4 development)

hmmm, seems they left Amiga behind for good

We need OS 4.0 games!

Hope that with an increased number of users some companies
get the flag and give us some new games.

OS 4.0 is lacking any commercial game yet!

I remember there was a h/w obstacle that couldn't be overcome. Was it something about "bus speed"? It's been years I read the article..

There won't be any serious attempt from none of a well know software house if OS4 reaches at LEAST 10.000 users..

I don't think 10000 users is a market any software house will even consider. It might still work if Hyperion licenses the game for Linux/Amiga/MacPPC but even that combined market became smaller with Apples CPU change.

Perhaps if we ever reach 100000 users small software houses will consider doing ports themselves but I doubt it will happen before that, unless they have a secret passion for the Amiga

Until then I guess the few Amiga companies remaining will have to buy a license to do a port themselves.

Why Mac PPC but not Mac x86?
