I would guess you have a login and/or password error

Go to Config / TCP/ IP

and play with the settings (or turn them all off for a start

"Use secure connection:"
(together with user-name/password "Method" and
"Use SMTP AUTH"
try every combination and see if that helps.

I had a little glitch on migrating too, had to use TLSv1 as
"Secure Connection" when it worked with SSLv3 in 2.4.

I have been playing with all the options you give me above
and roughly no results yet.

It would be a pity if I have to go back to YAM 2.4 having a new version to be used...

make a backup of your old 2.4 "YAM:.ADDRESSBOOK ".config" etc ... run YAM 2.5 and Save its preferences again.

A lot of things are changed from 2.4 ...

Framiga has a point there

Make a backup of your YAM drawer, install 2.5 fresh, create
your account with all the options and see if it cahnges.

I had to adapt my 2.4 config by hand on some points, otherwise
it would have thrown me out everytime i tried to connect aswell

I have tested and configured YAM 2.5 some days ago with a fresh install and copied YAM 2.4 to another partition and
nothing changes, the e-mail sending process its on hold for
the moment. All of this with a clean install, reconfiguration and previously deleted YAM 2.4 after copying to another place.

Almost all the options have been combined in many ways and
no more than a bit of frustration cause I can't send my messages with this new version.

I am still using YAM 2.4 to send my messages and 2.5 to receive it.Doesn't it a bit paranoid situation?

Anyway is the YAM homepage resolutive about concrete
issues like this?

I am about to forget YAM 2.5 and go back to the YAM 2.4 version if noone or I can give a solution to my problem.

you are overlooking something in the YAM Configuration> TCP/IP setting.

Have you checked the Active button gadget?

edit- mhh ... you can't send ... post here your First Step and Send mail (SMTP) Server/port and Domain string (even spoofed)

If you are not using SMTP-AUTH you must most probably first receive mails from the POP3 server. This will authenticate yourself against the server for a "short" time (i.e. 10 minutes). Only then you can send mails to the SMTP server, even without explicit authentication during that operation. Until web.de eventually enabled SMTP-AUTH I had to do things exactly like this.

The error message "authentication required for mail submission" explicitly states that you have an authentication problem.

I have SMTP-AUTH enabled so don't know what is the problem.
Anyway I have received mail and that doesn't activate the posibility of sending messages indeed.
Anyway nice to see your ideas you post here.
Maybe with some time I will get to the point I have to reach.

Is there a posibility that having a YAM 2.4 assign may corrupt the usability of the latest version?
I have this YAM assign on my user-startup and don't know how good is to preserve this on my system.
Anyone can ask me to this question?

if you have YAM 2.4 in a partition (with the assign pointing of that partition) and YAM2.5 in another (without assign) thats a problem.

Having a YAM: assign or not should be no problem. At least YAM itself does no longer need this assign. It could be a problem if something in your configuration or some somewhere else still accesses the YAM: assign.

ok, i know that YAM doesn't requires any assign anymore but if he have 2.4 assigned somewhere and in its icon tooltype

MAILDIR=YAM:

PREFSFILE=YAM:.config

could be a problem IMHO.

Fact is that we don't know what is happening onto his machine (seen that the 2.4 is correctly working)

Anyway it was only a wild suggestion!

OK here on my YAM 2.4 icon Tooltypes I have both the MAILDIR=YAM: assign and the PREFSFILE=.config lines disabled with brackets between so I hope that this will enlighteen us a bit.

Amyway I have a YAM: assign pointing to my YAM 2.4 version.
Don't know how reacts the system to this two versions of YAM installed on the same partition.

Yes I have two of them on the same partition of my HD.

I don't imagine or calculate how this happening of the two versions can interact between itselfs.Maybe is a question
of time and patience too.

Any sugestion or ideas will be welcome.

Want you to explain your own experiences about YAM behaviour on your machines?

Thanks to all Amigans I think you are helpful and Amigable!

i'm a bit lost now.

Do you have YAM2.4 and YAM 2.5 on the same partition and directory?

how can be? Yam 2.5 uses i new totally rewritten mail folders structure.

Can you please install YAM 2.5 on another partiton and get rid of that assign? (no need to delete it, goto your userSS and put a semicolon in front of every YAM related lines)

;assign YAM: partition:YAM

and retype manually your account data

Hmm, only two things you could try (which i see from your
config)

Quote:

User name: javitull$telefonica.net

Account name: javitull@telefonica.net

Change those to (one after another with trying on each change)

TCP/IP - settings
FIRST UserName under Send Mail (SMTP)
User name: javitull

and

Receive Mail (POP3)
Account name: javitull@pop3.telefonica.net

and see if THAT makes a difference

The account name has absolutely no impact on the mail transfer. It is just a name, which is displayed in the menus and in the transfer window. But nothing of this name is transmitted to any server.
