OS4 i FAT32 formatting?

ppl have problem ...Today I buy 1GB memory stick ..and it works on my OS4 but litlle slow trasnfer...when I format it to sfs is faster...But now need back again to FAT 32 ..when try format whit Quick option..system is lockup....and when try whit normal format...after 25min formating i have 1% ??? is that normal?? no faster way for formating to FAT32??

Simple arithmetics assuming the progress bar is going on according to an assumption that the next indication will be 100% and that it actually writes 1GB during the formating and verifying:

1024MB/( (12Mbit/sec) / (8bit/byte) ) / (60 sec/min) ~ 11min
That's when reading. I would give it 30 minutes. Or quick format.
Linux "mkdosfs -F 32" does qiuck format in couple of second and it works fine...
Edit: I saw you already tried the quick option

it is not intelligent to format MemorySticks
[or otherdevices with something similar RAM] with
anything else than FAT32 !

To bring the life cyclus of the flash-memory to a
good rate [the problem is the write procces] it
implement a algoritmh to switch as much cells as
possible by writing, so not the same cell is writen
every time and die final.
[this program is in the stick logic and the user dont
notice this]
This is only tested/optimized for FAT32 file system!
