RealAudio streams?

Will it be possible to play RealAudio streams any time soon? There is a plugin for realaudio files, so presumably that decoder should work.

I'd like to listen to Radio 2 on my A1 but they only have windows media or realplayer streams...

Yes, I'd like to be able to listen to Beeb2 and a few other BBC stations (on Listen Again). Trouble is, when it checks for Windows Media Player or Real Player, it doesn't seem to allow anything else.

You could try setting raplay up. It's available from OS4Depot/Audio/Play

http://www.os4depot.net/index.php?function=browse&cat=audio/play

Or from Aminet, RAPlay.lha for 68k

For Radio 2 type this in mplayer-HTTP URL.

mms://wmlive-acl.bbc.co.uk/wms/radio2/radio2_nb_e1s1

When on radio 2 webpage click on the "listen live to
Windows Media then on the left hand side you get an error.

Right click on the error and you will be able to download an asx file with the details of the url to put in Mplayer.

To quit just "ctrl c" in the console window.

The problem is that TuneNet needs some changes, so it can stream over RTSP/PNM, and so it can use plug-ins other than MP3 for streams.

I thnk the answer to your question is "no".

Thanks for that. Never knew mplayer could do that.

I've now set myself up a Radio Doc Bar using the links from here:-

Talking about AAC, and I know it's slightly off topic.
Do you know much about this format. ffmpeg is unable to create mpeg4 files usable on an ipod because libfaac encoder is missing on OS4. The sources are publicly available, could you, or would you, have a look.

That's the decoder only (libfaad). The encoder is called libfaac and is not ported to AmigaOS. I agree that the names are such that they are too easy to confuse though.

I tried it out with 5live, last night. is there anyway of switching it off, other than the ol' three finger salute ?
I had to do that, as the stream kept a comin, even when I'd shut down Mplayer !

I just use Ctrl-C in the CLI window where i started MPlayer.

Well, actually, i now have an amidock icon for radio 2 which i created by putting the mplayer call in a text file and giving it an iconx icon. I just give it a Ctrl-C in the resulting CON window when i'm done.

That'll be it then - I've been dropping the URL into the MPlayer GUI ...

Oh for an OS4 equivalent to the kill command...

-edit-
although I guess an arrangement with a stop icon on a button could be done via REXX or AmigaDOS...

Ranger will stop it for you, also. Just look for it in the DOS process list, and send it a break.
