Ok, i have to disconnect the floppy from the amiga 1200 and in the kickstart layout i have to comment the floppyfix ?

Then, you wish that i try to boot in AGA or PCIGraphics and see where appear the early startup-menu ?

Yes, disconnect the floppy, make sure you don't have the floppy fix loaded, then try to boot the system. If it doesn't work, try to get into the early boot menu.

Seriously, if you do want to contact me write me a mail. You're more likely to get a reply then.

I disconnected the floppy from the amiga 1200 and before booting i commented the floppy fix so it has not been loaded.

Unfortunatly i cannot run amiga os 4.0. I always arrive at one point and then the system doesn't load..

i can enter in the early startup menu only at the beginning and not after that os4 has been laoded ( as i did it before without the update )..

also add

set echo on

to the first line of your os4 startup-sequence.

When you say you can reach the early startup screen are you talking about the 3.1 startup screen on a 15Khz Display or the OS4 ESS on a monitor plugged into the graphics card on your mediator ?

Do you have multiple OS4 bootable partitions on your HD with different OS4 versions ?

My hd has 3 partitions, one for the system, one called work and one for the swap..

I have only one os4 installation..

and no os3x..

i am waiting to receive the ide interface to add a bigger hard drive and make an os4 installation and an os3.9 installation with full support for mediator

What we are trying to establish here is if your os4 kickstart is getting loaded or not ?

Please edit your OS4 startup-sequence
Make the first line

SET ECHO ON

Change the Bootloader line

C:Bootloader VERBOSE

Use a 3.X workbench disk to make the changes if you cant boot os4 to make them.
Or use the boot floppy and the orignal OS4 disc.

Reset your Amiga and report back what comes out on your TV

I did it and the last thing that i can read ( because i see a long list of actions that the system did.. ) was :

" PRESS RETURN TO BOOT AMIGA OS 4.0 "

then i see the color sequence and then a black screen, after some seconds the hd led switch off and i can't do nothing..

@Rogue and all

I have copied the old kernel module on the new one of the update, made a Cold reboot and then the amiga 1200 booted again ..

So i guess that the problem ( or what it is ) is in the kernel module..

Thanks for finding this out, i already suspected it could be only the kernel-module that's causing this.

I have made also a couple of test and at the end everytime that i copied the new kernel module my amiga hangs up at the boot..

Now hope that OS4Team can find the cause

Well today i fired up my Miggy and did some tests. I've installed the classic OS4-update for BPPC/CSPPC:

1. used newest Elbox-drivers (PCI.library & Voodoo.card -- commented out in kicklayout: PCIGraphics.card & Voodoo.chip) with ORIGINAL kernel (52.15): --> OS4 bootmenu accessible and WB loads OK!

2. used newest Elbox-drivers (PCI.library & Voodoo.card -- commented out in kicklayout: PCIGraphics.card & Voodoo.chip) with UPDATED kernel (52.21): --> OS4 bootmenu accessible and WB loads OK!

3. used OS4-drivers (PCIGraphics.card & Voodoo.chip in kicklayout -- deleted PCI.library & Voodoo.card) --> bootmenu NOT accessible and NO booting at all

Haven't yet tried with OS4-drivers and ORIGINAL kernel but will do if necessary.

I have commented out the floppy-fix.

I' d like to test the new elbox driver to see if i can also boot amiga os 4.0

Could you please tell me how did you get the installation step by step ?

Thanks

I have an existing OS 3.9 -installation that i use too . I just renamed files with it and always did a hard reset (3-finger salute for 6secs), used "BOOTLOADER VERBOSE", also checked with Scout that OS4 really used the NEW kernel and not the ORIGINAL one. So it works with the new kernel but not with the OS4 graphic drivers.

I have a clean os4 files, which files i have to manually copy on my sys: partition to use elbox drives ? after that i have to comment voodoo.chip and pci graphic in kicklayout and also removing them from sys: or just commenting them ?

I'd refer to this post
http://www.amigans.net/modules/newbb/ ... t_id=19766#forumpost19766

just copy PCI.library to LIBS: & Voodoo.card to LIBS:Picasso96 and comment out PCIGraphics.card & Voodoo.chip from kicklayout to use Elbox drivers. Vice versa for OS4-drivers only .
