I need someone that can test a port of Jagged Alliance 2 (straciatella). The following prerequisites exist:
- Must have an up-to-date AmigaOS 4.0 installation with the latest updates installed. - Must not be AmigaOS 4 beta-tester (I want to know whether it runs on a normal system) - Must have the data files of the game (see below)
Data files: The game works with Windows and Linux data files. The demo version does seem to have some issues. so you will probably need the full game. The Linux version can be installed without a PC; I don't know about the Windows version, but I'd guess they need a PC since the demo files cannot be extracted either without Windows.
If you want to test it, please write me a mail at

Thanks!
Seriously, if you do want to contact me write me a mail. You're more likely to get a reply then.
To be honest, I don't know. I can try build the demo version binary and send you a copy; that will not really work for playing, but for evaluating the speed, it would be enough.
Personally, I would guess that a BlizzardPPC is sufficient to play the game.

i have the gold version (2cds) but, i guess that won't help since i have no pc :)
I am looking into possibilities for the installation, but it is looking bleak. The game uses InstallShield 5 CAB files, and those cannot be extracted by any program I know that is open source and portable.
Right now, a PC, or the Linux version (which is tar.gz) are the only options for getting the data files.

and besides i am a betatester so, i am useless :)
LOL... We all know how useless beta testers are ;)

If not, I guess I could do a quick test of it for you. I have the PC version of the game, and I have it installed on my PC (I haven't played it much though).
Are you 100% sure that the CAB extrator i ported won't work?, i havent tried it yet, well not with JAGGED ALLIANCE anyway but i have used it alot back when i where dooing sdl ports etc.
its on OS4depot incase you want to give it a go, back then there was no other tools that would extract the files i wanted so thats why i ported that small tool.
will try them asap and look around if the orginal source has been updated to support more versions and so on, i think i should be able to do this in the weekend, if not then it will be on monday.
I'll give this a spin as soon as I can... if those tools work, it would be great, as it would make things a good deal easier (and allow me to add an installer script to JA2 on release :))

The author (Stuart Caie) of libmspack has done several XAD-Clients and XFD-Slaves, including the old CAB Client. Maybe we should simply ask for an update?
